Rumors of Coach Kelly leaving for the NFL will not be a distraction. All of you out there that think otherwise can either trust a local Oregon Duck fan that is giving you the correct info or create your own opinion based on what you think rather than what you know. He
is a players Coach and they would love to send him off with a nice
victory. The players at Oregon are treated like stars. The uniforms, the
staff, the facilities and the NIKE money and support prove that. He is
well respected and loved in Eugene. I like that the Ducks have the time
off to get healthy and prepare as they are dangerous given those 2
things. The time off for me favors the Ducks more so since they have been in big
bowl games the past 4 years and are used to it. The Duck speed may create problems for Kansas St much the
same way Baylor did. Speaking of Kansas State these guys are a tough,
physical, grind out, disciplined, balanced team that is well coached. They will remind
the Ducks of a Stanford type team. Some of you out there are also saying the Ducks do not like physical teams and that is also not correct as well. You are basing that on the Stanford loss but neglect to look at their key past wins including Ohio St and Wisconsin whom are physical and also the key losses they had against Auburn and LSU both with speed on their side. Oregon is more physical than you think but not like a Big Ten 10 of course, They are a finesse team first but will mix speed and physicality especially on defense. Oregon has more problems with teams that have speed such as SEC teams i mentioned above.. There is an old saying in basketball that says teams with certain styles have more trouble against teams with same styles such as a run and gun team playing against another run and gun team. I think that is partly true in football as well. That said Kansas State will be equally motivated and
energized for this match up that features 2 polar opposite teams. I picture them loading the box to try and slow down the run game and grind the game out with a balance of run and pass. I just
think Oregon has more weapons where as Kansas State relies on Colin
Klein too much. I also think that we have seen the best of Kansas State
already. This will be a close, tough game but i see the Ducks pulling
away towards the end and wearing out the slower Wildcats. If the spread
were -2 1/2 or -3 or even -4 then you would have to reconsider. Always
trust the spread. Vegas set it at -9 for a reason because the Ducks are a high
scoring team. This is not a homer pick i have bet against my Ducks plenty of times. Take Oregon -9
