LSU spread looks good. Should appear at -4 again.
Other picks to note: Under Game Total Under Clemson/LSU TT LSU 2nd Half Winner LSU outscores opponents 292 - 96 in the second half Averaging 18 points in the 2nd half while only allowing 8 points.
This the highest total for a LSU game all season long primarily because of Clemson's high scoring offense and this game being somewhat of a home game for Clemson as it is a 2 hour travel away from UC. Clemson's 13th ranked passing will be going up against LSU's 20th ranked pass defense which statistically, Clemson's averaging 518 yards per game against a LSU defense that allows 297 yards which is promoting a 221 yard difference! Mainly on the pass, as LSU is allowing 124.8 yards less than what Clemson actually passes for. LSU`s punter and tight end have been suspended for violation of team rules but two of their starting LB and OL are back in this game after academic suspension all season long. Clemson is the opposite, suspending their starting WR, T, CB due to academic ineligibility. Clemson has shown that when facing a strong defense and a front 7 that can stress their QB each down can allow for distress in the backfield promoting more bad mistakes and allowing more intangibles (special teams, pass deflections, defensive pressure) to power the outcome of this game. |

#1007 Posted: 12/31/2012 5:45:24 PM 2 BIG WINS today and Charlotte remains on a huge roll. Thanks for all your input. You were spot on with USC, they had no interest in playing in this game and it showed. |

You didn't get the memo either. Be patient and wait for the guy to post the play like he has the entire bowl season. Some of you guys act like you're on crack waiting for these plays to come out.

#1024 Posted: 12/31/2012 6:15:18 PM oh boy, tigers v tigers, this ought to be a good one, or will it? the
ACC is nearly an automatic bet against vs. the sec, or are they? both
sets of tigers had bcs bowl aspirations, lsu's were probably more
realistic and attainable as far as a national championship were
concerned. clemson had their bubble burst early in the year in their
set back at FSU while lsu was hiding their inefficient offense with
great defense all the way until they met bama (i know they lost to fla
too, but still had a chance at SEC title until the bama loss).
beginning with tex am, their identity kind of changed a bit. their
offense became much more effective, but their defense started to regress
and give up a ton of yardage. over the last 5 games, LSU allowed 402
ypg including season highs of 462
vs Ole Miss and 458 at Ark. That late season hiccup has resulted in LSU
allowing more rush ypg (101, 3.1) and pass ypg (194, 53.6%) this year
than last year. The sacks are also down from 39 last year to 30 this
year, I'd clemsons offense is certainly on par with any of the offenses
lsu faced in their last 5 games, including A&M. Rarely can an
offense step to LSU's defense and offer a competitive
number of playmakers. Typically LSU can take some defensive risks
knowing that it has more big-time athletes than you do. But against
Clemson, that is not necessarily the case. I think missing sammy watkins
for most of the year was a good thing, he's all but been relegated to
the #2 receiver as Hopkins has more than stepped in and now no matter
how you look at it, there are 2 nasty receivers for a defense to keep up
with and in LSU's case, their true freshman Jalen Mills will spend a
lot of time matched up on either one of these two. He's held is own,
but this will be the best #2 receiver he's faced all season. taj boyd
is polarizing to the clemson fan base, especially when they play SC. He
is a dual-threat, and he leads one of the most explosive offenses. But
... he has also thrown 13 interceptions and taken 26 sacks, and in
Clemson's two losses (against Florida State and South Carolina, easily
the only two defenses on Clemson's schedule that can approximate LSU's
speed and proficiency), Boyd completed just 52 percent of his passes
with three interceptions and eight sacks. When his team has the athletic
advantage, he is marvelous. When it doesn't, however, he still
struggles. He won't be allowed many mistakes against LSU. In the spirit
of understanding the true match up at hand, i do point out he and this
offense have struggled mightily against comparable defenses. However, I
do contend that lsu hasn't been as suffocating over their last 5 games,
they have allowed over 400 ypg over their last 5 and nearly 500 yds
twice to ole miss and ark like i said earlier, After limiting Alabama's
A.J. McCarron to 165 passing yards on Nov. 3,
LSU's secondary got peppered for 304, 316 and 359 passing yards by
Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Arkansas the rest of the month. The only
NFL-caliber QB in that group was the Hogs' Tyler Wilson, and now LSU
braces for the best non-conference passer it has faced since West
Virginia's Geno Smith last season. there is some wiggle room for offense
to move the ball and clemson has the speed to move it. there has been
many pointing to the fact that both have played South Carolina and
clemson got beat and lsu won, well they squeeeked one out, but there was
another common opponent as well in Auburn, clemson handled them and LSU
needed every bit of luck to squeak out a 2 pt win, so if we look at
common opponents we have to look at both. clemson has an extremely
experienced O line and will be a good match up for lsu defensive front
with mingo and co but lsu lb's are what makes their defense get off and
they are sick.. lsu o line has had some ups and downs but have been
solid all year. both had their season goals smashed during the
reg season, so will either of these two be battling motivation
problems? I don't think so, but if there were, lsu might read the
newspaper and not give the acc a chance against the sec. clemson also
has the nightmare of what was last years bowl game against west va. if
they fall behind early they could fold, or they could play possessed to
try and erase that memory. LSU is playing in a comfortable environment,
as the team owns a 9-1
record at the Georgia Dome, including a 5-0 record in the Chick-Fil-A
bowl. the ACC gets whipped every time they play the SE. That very well
may happen tonight, I don't blame anyone for following the history of
the script and I'm full prepared to feel the wrath after this pick if
the blowout does happen, but this isn't a bcs bowl game, lsu has been
picked apart in the 2ndary over the last half of the season, clemson has
nothing to lose and everything to gain, everyone's last impression of
clemson is their blowout loss in last years bowl, i get all that and
like i said, i can't blame you one single bit, but sometimes i'm a
glutton for punishment, and this is one of those times. i can buy it up
to a TD, so I am.
Clemson +7 -130 |
