#27 Posted: 11/26/2012 1:25:49 PM As much as I respect what the Irish have done and what they bring to the table the reality is Alabama is a terrible matchup for them. You can't pound the ball and beat Bama. We've seen with A&M and the LSU game that a competent QB and good pass attack can beat them.
Notre Dame with their style will simply wear down over the course of the game even with the defense they possess. Everett Golson will not beat Bama nor will he do enough to cover.
Georgia on the other hand does have what it takes (except for the coach) to beat Alabama.

ND plays conservative on O if it can, but will open things up if they have to.

Correct. Georgia can beat Alabama because they have a balanced offense, and as I posted months ago, that's what it'll take to beat Alabama. Aaron Murray is a very good and very experienced QB who is supported by a running game the defenses must respect. Yes Georgia has a good defense, but it is their balanced offensive attack that could give Alabama fits.

Honest question, have you watched even 1 Notre Dame game this season? To say Everett Golson can "sling the rock" is the furthest thing from the truth. In fact, whenever Notre Dame falls behind or is forced to run a 2 minute drill type offense, Tommy Rees will usually come on the field. Do you think it's a mystery why? Golson is an athletic QB that can run the option well. Throwing the ball is certainly not his strength, especially down field.

he hit a nice deep pass or two against OU,
he does not throw down the field more than 15-18 yds very much, but when he does, he is pretty money |

His completion % this season was under 60%.
The 4 good teams he played against this year were against Michigan, Michigan State, Stanford, and Oklahoma. His completion %'s were as follows:
Michigan: 43.8% Michigan State: 37.5% Stanford: 50% Oklahoma: 52%
Taking into account completions/attempts, this results in a whopping 47% completion % against good competition. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me.

#38 Posted: 11/26/2012 3:44:31 PM Grid, nice one... Except golson couldn't hold jonny football's jock. Get real here. Explain to me how this offense of ND is gonna do anything against bama??? What am i missing?? I've seen them play. They don't have the talent to take on a team that can bring pressure with four and stop the run with 7 in the box. Im sorry but all of you who think ND can hang at 12 points are nuts. You're focus is on two things, ND's 12-0 and their defense. Hate to break it to ya but bama's one loss came to one of the best teams in the country and bama also has a pretty good defense themselves if i recall correctly |

#39 Posted: 11/26/2012 3:54:02 PM i truly believe that unlike 2009 and 2011, this year a team with a tremendous offensive line can run the ball right at Bama with success.
ND has a tremendous offensive line, they ran the ball on everyone this year, everyone |

Do you think Golson compelting even 50% of his passes against Alabama has a shot? Notre Dame will not run the ball on Alabama. The question isn't only will he be able to compelte at a high enough percentage, but will he be able to do this against by far the best pass rush he'll face this season?
If Bama gets out to an early lead and Notre Dame is forced to throw the ball, do you think they will have any chance for success?

i believe the game plan will be to establish the running game and then play action pass with roll outs, get the kid on the edge,
this Bama team not nearly as good as last year's on D,
they can be run on, if running directly at them,
just wait.
georgia will do it this sat, and if bama wins, they'll get a full dose of it on mon, jan 7,
just wait. |

ND is not even in the same league as LSU, UF, UGA, A&M, BAMA!!
A&M was a Red Hot team when they beat Bama. Alabama had several opportunities to win that game as well. A&M played 1 good QTR & it tirned out to be enough. But Bama was also coming off 5 straight SEC opponents who have been and/or are still ranked in the top 25 (3 on the road). No Coach is College Football keeps his team more focused over a 30 day break than Nick Saban. ND scores a TD ill be surprised. Who has ND played to make you think that Bama want blow them away? Stanford.... I'm laughing at you.
Your angle on this game is that of a rookie bettor and Im fading you all day!!
ND's star LB had 4 tackles against USC & USC ran it down their throat. What do you think Bama will do??
Your only hope of Alabama not winning the Nationsl title by 3 TD's is UGA.

This argument holds no validity to me, you know why? Because football games are 60 minutes, not 30, not 40, not 50, but 60. I can counter your argument and say that Bama should have won both of those games. After A&M had a crazy 1st quarter, they did virtually nothing all game until Bama fumbled the kick inside their own territory.
