I say keep the BCS Bowl games and let the top 4 after those games, re seed and have a playoff. Basically its a plus 2 scenario. Or I guess you could consider that a 8 team playoff.

Tree - perfect scenario. I completely agree. I always knew you were kinda smart .... (we often think that way about those with whom we agree .....

I'm against anything that allows teams w/ multiple losses to become supposed "national champions." It's bad enough when we have years in which a one-loss team wins the title. How teams can take any pride in flying banners for these tainted seasons is beyond me. But two-loss teams? Please.
The fewer teams the better.

You can't compare NFL, college basketball, baseball, etc. to college football. College football is the one major sport in which running the table is a realistic goal for the champion. All of the great teams in the annals of college football history are undefeated - all of them. Few people remember one- and two-loss champions. The people who do are usually the fans of the teams desperate to claim national titles. (Look at Colorado winning the title with a loss, a tie, and a fifth down. Does anyone think that team was worth a damn? No.)

You think Ty Detmer played on BYU's national championship team. Ergo, the rest of your post is irrelevant and is not worthy of reading. ![]()

Arguing college football history with someone who thinks Ty Detmer won the national championship would be like arguing American history with someone who thinks we declared independence from Italy.
