The guy was way too "regional" for a program that needs to recruit nationally to be relevant again. That annoying southern drawl sounded like it came right off a Southern Baptist pulpit in Buck Snort, TN. 
They say he's a very nice man, so I wish him well. He was just out of his league this time.

 Unlike the Kiffin debacle, I didn't object to the Dooley hire, but it clearly isn't working on any level in Knoxville.

 The Vols over the years have devolved from aiming to beat Alabama and Florida in the same season and go to a major Bowl,to now trying to beat Vandy and Kentucky to gain Bowl eligibility.

They should have never fired Fulmer  he was a good coach.

not surprising at all,

Dooley = nice guy,

but not a good coach at a top program,

he was meant to be at a mid major where there's no pressure,

he can't recruit against the big boys of the SEC let alone coach against them

Dooley really dropped the ball in that Vandy game. Tyler Bray is a pro prospect that will likely go in the first couple of rounds in the draft.

How do you pull him in the second quarter only down 10-7? Then you throw in your backup, who promptly throws a pick 6, and Vandy never looks back again.

That justifiably cost him his job on Saturday.

Bray mouthed off to his OC after that first pick and that got him benched.  Apparently he told him, "Hey, I'll do my job if you'll do yours."

As it is now clear that the UT program is in complete shambles, it's also very obvious that Al Davis was correct when issued this prophetic statement on the day that Lane Kiffin was hired at UT:

“Lane Kiffin is a flat-out liar. He lied to the team, he lied to the fans, and he lied to the media. He will try to destroy that university like he tried to destroy the Raiders.”

Mission accomplished.

I completely disagree with this. Phil Fulmer was a good ole boy from Winchester, Tennessee and recruited with the best of them

Actually it was 7-6 Tennessee still had the lead. Which makes it even worse he pulled him.

He should have implemented a high tempo offense. He had a very talented group of offensive studs in his three years there while holding on to a severely weak defense. Uptempo teams with talent find ways to win regardless of how bad their D is. Look at Sumlin, Kelly and Briles to name a few. All experienced bad defenses in their careers yet found ways to win by outscoring opponents. Saban hates the uptempo play probably because its the one offense that has a chance to beat his stellar D. Unless you are LSU I highly doubt playing pro style will serve you well against Alabama. Coaches need to wake up! Not everyone gets the privilege of obtaining solid offense and defensive recruits but you are probably more likely to get better offensive talent regardless. Uptempo is the mark of the future.
