Well we come to another Friday night game with two aweful teams ready to battle. The magic number for this game is 61 o/u and the line has been jumping back and forth, let forget about the lione and talk winners.
Thi what I see that has a great value to this pick, the rate at which CMU scores points was only due to playing superior opponents, thus have more opportunities to score, and making the average better look at the over total by comparison. Both these teams have played tough competition, and while Navy has held their own in a few contest, they really lack the scoring from their offense. Looking back to the Air Force game, they shouldn't have won that game at all, Air Force gave the game away with turnovers inside the redzone of Navy.Another stat to look at is time of possession, once a opposing team gets a lead on Navy they sit on the ball for long periods of time, scoring isn't so much of a problem because Navy has long drives to try and score. Just those facts alone should point you in the right direction, the play for sure is the under 61.
Now lets talk teams, CMU at home infront of their crowd, much more ble to [asss and spread the navy defense out will would be the play for me, they have played better opponents, scored on much better opponents, and any coach worth his salt knows that this is the time of year they step up and play teams tough, this is crunch time for bowl season or atleast a bid for one. CMU will win and cover.

That is very true, but lets not forget cmu only has a short time to figure out the run for Navy and will have to adjust to it in real time play. I don't see navy kicking if they are in short yardage situations, so that kinda scares me.

Two dog shit defenses. You better hope Navy has long drives without scores otherwise this goes over. For me its not a play because like the OP said Navy could have a 8 minute drive and get nothing for it. However, these are two very bad defenses so look for Navy to break some big plays to pick scoring up.

I agree, but technically speaking as a coach, knowing you have another big game ahead of you and you need this win, what do you do? do you score fast or slow keeping the Navy offense off the field? Also something to consider is the weather, it will start getting cold in this game as it progresses, harder to run the ball in my humble opinion. I look for CMU to take an early lead and then pound the rcok, keeping Navy off the field on offense.

Wasn't it the second string QB (the one who's starting tonight) that got them the late comeback and W in the Air Force game? Thought it was but not sure.

You are completely wrong regarding the affects of the weather. It affects defense and passing teams a great deal more when it is cold and wet. Its easy to run the ball when its cold and wet. It is much harder to tackle and hurts more. It is also much harder to throw a cold wet ball. It is also much harder to catch a hard wet ball as a receiver.

I think the fact that cm is unprepared for the navy attack and that navy stinks against the pass that this game will sail over the total. Mid 70's type game. Navy will take 4-5 min to score a td on average from their own 25 whereas cm will be able to score I'm 2-3 min through the air.

Yes but he did fumble on the goal line, luckily it was recovered by one of his players.

I will disagree with you, the last 5 games for Navy in the 20111 season yielded only 103 pts total, that was during the months of october thru december. This is also no the sme team Navy had ; last year, last year was a better team. taking those numbers into consideration is a key point. They didn't even pass 24 pt total last year in any of those games. In mho its harder to run the ball in cold weather, than it is in warmer weather, By 9 pm it will be in the low 40* temps this will be the first winter game of the year.

I wouldn't call low 40's a "winter" game- yes it is harder to run when it is cold compared to the weather being warm- but it is a lot harder to throw in cold weather-running the ball in cold weather is easier than passing the ball in cold weather- however the weather tonight shouldn't be a factor- both teams will do what they do- I am taking CMU but it should be a close game-
