Thursday game:

Rutgers +9'
@ South Florida

USF gave me a lucky cover last week. I should thank them by putting another bet on them but...no...not even with the whole Nat'l TV, Thursday night angle I love so much.

Rutgers always plays well vs USF. No point looking at stats to cap Rutgers yet this year. I tried watching Rut vs Howard but it was complete trash. It took 5 plays to realize it was just a scrimmage to RU: "just get some work done and don't get injured". All I can say with some confidence is RU has a solid defense & OL.

They have an injury at RB but I don't see many points being scored by either team. Maybe the RB injury will force RU to throw the ball a bit. They haven't shown one page of the playbook this year on OFF so who knows...maybe the book has a few passing plays.

USF is the same team. Both teams are sloppy. I think USF will be in a tougher spot because they travel from NEV, and played in an emotional game last week. I can't see them beating up Rutgers by 10.


Miami
@ Boise State -19

Sue me. I thought Boise was only giving 19 to Miami, FLA.

No, not really.

Boise in a familiar spot: playing vs a MAC team at home on the blue turf. Miami, OH may just want to cash the check and get to their home coming game next week. Boise St gets the crazy crowd behind them and pulls away.

Arkansas State +24
@ Nebraska

Good thing the Pittsburgh defense has sunk so low...or else Nebraska's front 7 would be the biggest disappointment after 2 weeks.

Now Nebraska faces a team that can put a scare into a disappointing defense.

I was just going to play the total on this game...Martinez has advantages vs this secondary... but I couldn't turn down the 24 points. If I have to pull a score out of my ass, I was thinking NEB wins 45 to 33 or something like that...so...couldn't turn down the 24 points.

Was going to play Colorado State at +12' but decided against it...it's down to +10' so a lot of people had the same idea. I missed that boat...

Navy went from +7 to +5 in about 15-20 minutes...

Playing one total so far:

Western Kentucky @ Kentucky OVER 48

Wanted to bet Kentucky but they still can't stop the run. WKU runs to set up the pass so their offense should be fine vs Kentucky defense.
Kentucky is starting to pass the ball all over the place...and the QB is actually efficient! WKU has a terrible Pass Efficiency defense. Still not sure what "math stuff" goes into the PED but, so what. WKU has a bad number and that's all I care about for this bet.
Also, KU needs to remind WKU that they really, really, are the school with SEC athletes. WKU really was trash talking after last years game and Kentucky has to shut them up. I think they have a better chance to do that offensively. I think the over is the safer play because I don't believe they'll find a run defense.

I have a bunch of games set aside for totals. One note says to bet TX AM/SMU under if it's 53...it's actually 56. Also have notes to bet Cal/Ohio St over 51' and the # is 52'. For the life of me, not sure what I was thinking...those bets look terrible now! Whatever...not done yet for the week...more to come.

Army has won 3 in a row at home. Sometimes young teams get intimidated by all the cadets in the stands. NIU is a perfect candidate to be one of those teams intimidated by the atmosphere.
Army had a bad week at SDST. They didn't even want to play that game but couldn't get out of the game. NIL has looked good so far but we'll see how they handle week 3.

Arizona State

Damn line kept dropping.

Arizona St hasn't played a QB yet.

Arizona St offense is kind of...Big 12-ish. This is the kind of offense the Missouri D was built to stop.

I realize this situation sucks for Missouri because they've been looking forward to the GA game for 6 months, & next week have to play S Car. If this game blows up in my face, I'll never go against this "new conference sandwich" situation again. Probably a good thing to remember since so many teams change conferences in the next couple years.

Orangeman44; I'm starting to see more and more Big East wins for Cuse. Still don't like @ Rutgers, @ USF and @ Cincy but Syr wins one of them. 6-2 would be a nice ending to the Big East era of Cuse football.
(I haven't even mentioned LVille. Syr D could make Bridgewater look like RGIII. The kid is accurate as it is...)

Cuse,, what is your take o TX AM?  Line opened at -14 and I was on it pretty big and now -12. I cannot find anything in the news that would change the line. Your take?

- Garrett Gilbert terrible vs pressure. A&M front 7 should go apeshit vs new OL.
- SMU deceptive score last week. Only scored 3 TD's on offense vs SAF. Every other score was crazy defense INT, punt return, or other turnover.
- TXAM learned something last week. They had a good speed going in the first half. Slowed down in 2nd half. Why? Coach went conservative? Florida kept having issues with "cramps"? Dunno. But A&M will go full speed both halves this week.

BC is a passing team this year: 84 passes to 75 rushes. (5 TD, 1 INT ratio).
NW poor vs pass? Syr game still screws up passing D stats...too ealry to tell. If NW has poor secondary, they're facing a BC team with the personnel and scheme to keep on passing all over NW. Not a typical version of BC. Maybe Spaz realizes his job is on the line and he has to open up the offense a little more.
How about that? A coach that learns something and keeps his job.
