Sides  5 - 5   - .5 units

Totals 1 - 1    - 2

Overall   6 - 6    - .5

( 1 game still pending )  G.T  +7.5

Obviously not what I wanted to start the season off with. Don't worry about me, I will be fine. But, It is what it is. I still have 2 more games pending and if I hit both I will still end up with a profitable week. There is a ton to talk about.....Lets go!

                                 Ten Things We Learned

1. Florida is still garbage. Yes I was fooled. I do think, or I did think the defense was gonna be lights out. But let's be honest here. Bowling Green was still in this game in the 4th quarter and had a shot to win it. If you look at the box score you will see just how embarrassing the Florida defense and offense played. The problem is still the same. They have no QB. The season will only get harder fro these guys IMO. Oh and Florida fans....dont try and spin this into something that it's not. You were Horrible! You thought I was tough on you last season? Keep this up, you have no idea how hard I will ride you.

2. Michigan S.T better figure some stuff out in the passing game cause I dont think Bell can carry the ball 60 times a game and live to tell about it. But on the other hand, let's give Boise S.T some credit here. I bet against Boise for the first time, I think ever and I got exactly what I deserved. Look here is the truth, these guys are the best coached team in the country. Chris Petterson continues to show he is a big time guy. Yeah, Boise finally lost. But let's also not forget that they virtually replaced the entire football team and they still traveled to East Lansing. Note to self: Don't bet against Boise.

3. Alabama destroyed Michigan. I thought the game would have been a little closer, but I wasn't really surprised. The game was never in doubt and the biggest baddest bully on the block won gain. Bama is a good team people. They will be good again this year. How much? Only time will tell, But I can tell you this. Michigan is officially out of two things. The NC game and any hopes of Denard winning a Heisman. I think Michigan is or was more of a fraud to begin with anyways. Congrats to the Alabama backers.

4. I'm not sure if there was a more tougher team yesterday then Clemson and Taja Boyd. Clemson only won by 7 but let's be honest here. Clemson dominated that game. Completely dominated that game from start to finish. Andre Ellington was a beast going off for 228 yds rushing. Hell, I think Andre had more total yards then Florida. Did I mention Florida is horrible? The teams rushed for 320 yds and put up 528 yds of offense against a pretty good Auburn defense. If this team can continue to grow I think that there in for a good season. IMO, Clemson should have won that game by at least 17 points. But a win is a win. Good Job guys.

4. Let's play a little game called WTF!! Congrats To Pittsburgh as Youngstown S.T took them to the woodshed. Also a big shout out to Maryland as they just edged powerhouse William and Mary 7 - 6. My pick to win the NC put a stellar performance against N. Iowa winning 26 - 21 and Iowa finding a way to pull off the big one beating N. Illinois 18 - 17. Let's not forget Wake hanging on to beat Liberty 20 - 17 or Oklahoma S.T winning by a NCAA record 267 points over the university of the Little Sisters of the Poor. WTF! Week 1 is always a little crazy, but my goodness. This has to be the craziest one Ive seen in a long time.

5. Did you guys get to checkout Oregon's Uniforms? Wow!! I loved it. If you didnt like it or you all think some of the new uniforms teams are showing are bad then guess what? You are starting to show your age. College football is better then ever and I love it. Yes, Maryland's uniforms are still bad. But that's the only exception. Kids are going to schools now based on uniforms, it's just the truth. I cant help im young enough to still like it and some of you old farts are...well just that. Old Farts!

6. The Penn S.T game IMO got way to much hype. Yeah it's the first game without Joe Pa. But still, it's just another game. They got smacked by Ohio. Not Ohio S.T. Yes, the green Ohio team. The MAC power Ohio. I'm not gonna sit here and give Penn S.T the Florida beatdown, but im still gonna state the facts. Penn S.T is not a very good football team. I'm not surprised they lost nor should any of you. Bill Obrien is a pretty good guy IMO and I hop the best for him. But things in Happy Valley are only gonna get worse before they get better IMO.

7. The game of the day IMO was the Northwestern Syracuse game. It was a wild shootout that had the look at one point of Northwestern blowing a 22 point lead. Well, the actually did blow that lead. But Northwestern still fought back and some how won the game. I like Pat, but if this guy doesn't learn how to close games he will be in the booth calling games before long. to keep blowing leads like this is unexceptionable.

8. I guess the conference with egg on it's face had to go to the Big Ten this week. The whole damn conference looked like garbage. Not like Florida bad, but still nevertheless, Bad. Did anyone have a " good " performance besides Urban and Ohio S.T? Which BTW, Ohio S.T is gonna be good people. I told you months ago and I still stand behind it. Ohio S.T is gonna really shock some teams. If these teams keep putting up " Florida " performances then there in for a long year. Hey Florida!! Congratulations on becoming a catch phrase.

9. Gamecock fans, did you really think I was gonna just forget about you? Slide through this whole thing without mentioning you? LMAO!! Just kidding! Look, here are the facts about you. If you dont stop running the zone read Conner will not make it through the year. Would you not agree? I thought so. You did play bad. Not like Florida bad, but still bad. I'm glad to see Lattimore back and playing football. Even tho were rivals I would never hope harm for  any player. But I leave it at this. You got a little lucky and you know it. But you won an that's all that matters.

10. Guys it's the first week. I didnt have a " great " week and if you didn't either that's fine. I mean it's not like I pulled a " Florida ". We have a long way to go. One thing you can count on is that I will bounce back and be profitable. That you can take to the bank. If took a loss, get over it. Guess what? Alot of people did. Let's focus on today's and tomorrow's games and get some momentum into next week.

Picks later........

Glad you started a new thread.  It's all good.

If I may ask an opinion w/o bias?  I like Ball St. a little this week. Just a lean but -27 sounds nice. Clemson has bigger fish to fry next week. Ball Strap is crap but I think they bring their best. I'm thinking they could score 20.

Auburn? I know you've looked at that one. Getting some pts?  I'm thinking ML.  Miss. St. likes the home cooking but Auburn has competition under their belt and Miss. St. getting 1st shot at real stuff.

One team getting better and one team descending?

Thanks,     Doc

I'm a first time poster and newbie here.My first impression after reading your "ten things to remember" was that it was brilliant and full of so much useful information.   Addtionally, and I'm quite sincere, there isn't anything in the USA TODAY or other sport sections or magazines that gives me that. Your mind must be constantly spinning and creating. Let's be real basic oyeyn this too!----You have "THOUSANDS" of hits on your posts here, which you truly  deserve because you're being truthful and upright.  So, compare those many, many thousands to "ONE OR TWO" pure pieces of defication, and you should realize how much you are indeed appreciated....They "WANT" you to be upset. Why give them "ANY" attention.Just flush them down the shithouse of life.Hey Boom, if you check my name, you'll see where I'm coming from, and right now I'm having a full blown episode of mania.I LOVE IT!.Could not think of anywhere else but to YOU as my first post! Keep up the great work.  LITHIUM RULES!!

yeah man... Ball S.T + the points could be the play IMO. Clemson will be a little flat. They just won a emotional game that took alot out of them. Clemson wins  45 - 21 ??

I was impressed with Auburn. I think that's a solid football team who was better then I gave them credit pre season. ML??? Maybe. But dont forget there coning off a HUGE emotional loss

Writing College football comes easy to me. When I sit down to write the Ten things we learned every week..... I do it all from my head. No rough drafts or notes. Just a easy flow of what the weekend just brought us  Where you passionate about something, its comes easy in life for you.

What's the angle on Iowa? Line is an overreaction to a bad game by Iowa and a good game by ISU? I like Rhoads a lot and keep looking for an excuse to bet him, but I guess this probably isn't the time.

The thing is... I like both coaches. IMO, Iowa will win this game for revenge of last season.
