Last Year: 52-38 (58%)
Had a pretty good year last year. I started the season off really hot. Didn't have a losing weekend until week 8. I typically pick about 5 games a weekend and I don't track units, just W/L.
Alot of my plays will come from the SEC, because I follow it so closely and have been living and breathing it for the last 32 years. In any event, lets get Week 1 started off with a bang.
Alabama -13.5 (Best Best)
- I don't see Michigan putting up more than 14 points (if they are lucky). Bama's weakness defensively (if they have one) is secondary and Michigan weakness offensively is passing. Like the matchup there. I also like the fact that Bama has a national champion QB coming back and he only got better and better has the season went along last year. Being THE GUY in training camp and not having to worry about Phillip Sims like last year will prove to be huge. I havent even mentioned the Offensive Line which is the best in the country.
La Tech +7.5
- Sunny Dykes is put a huge emphasis on this game to build momentum for the season. I realize weather could come into the play for this game, which I don't think really favors either team, since both coaches favor a passing game. Texas AM lost a lot and is implementing a new scheme. La Tech has a lot of starters coming back most importantly there QB and WR (Patton, who is a STUD).
Louisville -13.5
- I live in Lexington and there football program and fanbase are at an all time low. To give you an idea, UK sent back 3500 of their alotted 5500 tickets for this game (who is their alleged rival)
Ohio State -23
- I look for Urban Meyer to start his regime off with a bang! They have one of the best secondaries in the nation and the only thing Miami Ohio can do is throw the ball. I look for this one to get ugly quick!
Arkansas State +35.5
- This line is just way too high. Oregon is starting a freshman QB and Ark State is starting a Senior QB coming off a 10-3 year. While I recognize they don't play near the level of competition as Oregon does, they did stay within the number agains VaTech last year and were one of the best team's ATS. Malzahn's offensive schemes are not much different than Freeze's so the learning curve for Ark State shouldn't be that bad.
Leans: (not playing but considered)
Ohio +6 - love this situation for the bobcats
Vandy +7 - home dog on national TV
NC State +3 - Tenn is a dumpster fire right now
USC -40 - really like this one, but that is just too high for me.
Good to all this season and as always I welcome your feedback.
