#3 Posted: 8/14/2012 5:26:08 PM Since Trotter's gone,I have concerns at QB for Auburn. This game is a "no pick" for me. If I had to take a side, it would be Clemson.BOL.

#4 Posted: 8/14/2012 5:37:48 PM Trotter got beat out before midseason last yr.He played in Chick Filet Bowl bc Mosely got hurt.Auburn has 2 qbs that played more last yr which is still a question mark. |

#5 Posted: 8/14/2012 5:45:46 PM This is one of my three favorite Saturday games, and I love Clemson. With or without Sammy Watkins I think Clemson cruises to a DD win. With all due respect to your Tigers, they are a tire fire right now, and in for a very long season in my opinion. I don't see many wins on that schedule.

Auburn will probably not score 28 points in their first two games combined.

#7 Posted: 8/14/2012 5:51:03 PM I know Trotter made the decision not to return, probably because he would not be the starter.I like to look at teams where the QB position is not an issue or I have other matchups that are in my favor.I feel there other opportunities that more closely meet the criteria I set to make a wager .GL

#8 Posted: 8/14/2012 5:59:42 PM Jimmy, please explain why you believe Clemson cruises in this game? Auburn will own both lines of scrimmage. I like Auburn's chances with Sammy Watkins out and Dewayne Allen gone, they accounted for 21 of Clemson's points last year if I'm not mistaken. Yes Tajh Boyd is a good QB, but he will be under constant pressure all night from Lemonier, Ford, Egaue, Whitaker, Wright and Blackson upfront for Auburn's D-line. Auburn's secondary will be solid, but LB is going to be the big ? for the defense. 31-17 AU |

#9 Posted: 8/14/2012 6:37:30 PM Brandon ford replaces Dwayne Allen he will be a good player with experience that caught huge passes last year! Sammy Watkins hurts but the wr depth is unreal charone peak 5* 6'4 210 4.3 40 martavious Bryant 4* 6'5 215 caught some Nice vertical passes last year Adam Humphries 3* played behind Sammy last year great route and possession receive all 3 are true sophomore which will play Sammy's part. O line is the thing to watch for Clemson here in 3 new starters will be brought into the picture. Experienced qb Boyd and rb Ellington will play big parts in helping control things even if hot routes are a necessity. Defensive wise there is lack of depth at devensive end but doesn't scare me. Clemson 34-17 |

That offense you seen last season was a offense in it's early developments. There more experienced now and are absolutely loaded at the skill position. No, Auburn will not own both lines of scrimmage. I dont think Auburn is a bad team. I think Clemson right now is just simply better.

I will probably do a full write-up on this game at some point. I just like doing it closer to the end of fall camp when the position battles have run their course. I will say that this play is primarily a fade Auburn play becasue of the atrocious state of their football program at the moment.
Auburn has a legitimate shot of being the worse offensive team in the SEC this year. Like Florida last season, Auburn is trying to make the transition from a spread to a pro-style attack, and like Florida, they don't have even close to the personnel on campus to run an effective pro-style offense. As bad as Florida was last season in their transitional season, Auburn is likely to be even worse because they are far less talented than Florida was/is. Even the Auburn pundits are constrained to admit that they don't have a SEC caliber QB on the roster, so they really won't be much of a threat in the passing game, and they are going to try to engender a smash mouth offensive with a 170 lbs scat back. To predict that this team is going to score between 28-31 points against Clemson is almost laughable. If Auburn is going to win this game it's going to be more like a 13-10 score.
While I would concede that Auburn should (or at least on paper should) have an advange in the trenches, particularly Auburn's d-line versus Clemson's o-line, I don't think the advantage is nearly as big as you perceive it to be. In fact pending the availablility of Sullen and Slade, I might be inclined to give Clenson's d-line the advantage.
Moreover, offensively Clemson is one of, if not the most talented teams in the nation. They have a whole lot more talent than just Sammy Watkins. And this being Clemson's second year under offensive coordinator Chad Morris will also greatly benefit them on that side of the ball.
The bottom line here is that Clemson is going to score. They are going to score on pretty much anyone. Auburn, on the other hand, will struggle mightily to score. This is shaping up to be something like a 34-10 Clemson win IMHO.

Gus made that team. Gus was more a reason to why they won the NC then Chizk was.
I love the "they figured him out" argument.... I always love those arguments...

#20 Posted: 8/14/2012 7:32:15 PM @Boom..ask Spurrier what he thinks of Chizik.Ive heard Spurrier say Chizik is one of the best coaches in the country.Ppl forget that Chizik won Frank Broyles Best Asst Coach in the country in 2004 then led Texas to a National Title in 2005.How do u say ateam is in disarray that dominated a pretty good Virginia team in Chick Filet that has everybody back.Frazier was highly recruited and Pike was an ELITE 11 QB which last I checked qualifies for SEC play. |

#22 Posted: 8/14/2012 7:39:29 PM I dont have to ask Spurrier garbage.
I know good coaches
Chizik is a bad coach. I dont care he won the NC. Hell Les miles won a NC for goodness sake.
Only reason he won that year was because he had Cam and Malzahn. You and I could have won with Cam Newton
Minus the 2010 season... Chizik is 21-29 lifetime as a head coach...Congratulations
