I like Logan Thomas, but I don't think that he has enough talent around him to win more than 9 games, and like Boom says, worse case I could see them going 6-6.
The Hokies will only be returning 3 starters on offense. While it's nice to have L.Thomas and WR Marcus Davis coming back, Tech will only have 1 offensive lineman and little depth in 2012. Tech always seems to have at least 2 or 3 quality TBs battling for carries, but not this year. VT returns 3 backs with expierience who combined for 25 carries for 59 yards and 0 TDs and 1 reception for 2 yards and 0 TDs.
Week 1 - With an inexpierienced offense opening up against an explosive veteran laden Georgia Tech team, I don't think that a Yellow Jacket victory is out of the question here. The 'Jackets always play the Hokies tough anyhow.
Week 6 - The Tarheels did all but beat VT in Blacksburg LY and bring back QB Bryn Renner and RB Gio Bernard to run another potential very potent offense under Larry Fedora. This game is in Chapel Hill and again a Hokie loss would not shock me.
Week 8 - The Hokies lost twice to Clemson last year as they clearly had trouble with the Tigers' speed. Neither of those games was played in "Death Valley", this one will be.
Week 9 - Another road game against a team with plenty of speed. The 'Canes racked up 519 yards in Blacksburg LY before losing in the final seconds to Tech. Things could be different in Miami.
Week 10 - The Seminoles come to Lane Stadium with arguably the best talent in the ACC. They return 9 starters on both sides of the ball and should have one of the best defenses in the nation. Oh yeah, and they are 13-2 against Virginia Tech.
Week 12 - Rivalry games can turn out to be very weird. Yes the Hokies have owned UVa over the last several years including LY's massacre in Charlottesville. I truly feel that terrible loss will motivate the Cavs to play their game of the year in Blacksburg to try and restore some state pride.
Trap Game? - Week 3 at Heinz Field. Can Paul Chryst restore some magic to the Panther football program. He doesn't inherit a terrible team and should have a healthy Ray Graham to go against the Hokies.Remember Pitt only lost by 1 to a very good WVU team last year in Morgantown, beat S.Fla. by 27, and won at Louisville.Who knows what could happen here.
