The Hawai'i collapse against Utah State cost me a straight bet AND a parlay (which, in fairness, I should have hedged).  The only other time I bet the 'Bows was the SJSU debacle.  If there is even a tiny bit of truth to these rumors...

I won't say how I know, but I do know that every year, and after every game that Hawaii does NOT cover the spread, the HPD and FBI receives calls that their is point shaving.

From what I hear, this goes on for almost every football program.  (a team doesn't cover, the police get calls)

I also knew of this investigation weeks ago, and I also know a lot of details that were getting preposterous. The rumors were just getting plain outlandish.

I know many players on a very close level, and in fact know exactly where they are on their days off.

Of the main players I know, I would say no way in the world this is true. I cannot vouch for fringe players.

Someone needs to say, "Ummmmm, Hawaii has the most injured starters on offense in the NATION. Of course they will friggin struggle!"

Maybe so, but sorry it was obvious that Hawaii was shaving points this year, people called me crazy when I said those game where being fixed and everyone on that island was getting rich.

The only difference with this years called to the FBI and Police is that they were made by players on the team that were not in on the fix ... OH SNAP BUSTED!!!

I agree that there has been some shady play from Hawai'i,but I don't get all of the references to the UNLV game.

If you were Hawai'i and needed to win by no more than 16 to "not cover", why on earth would you go ahead and just take a 20 point beating?  Hawai'i could have scored 5 more touchdowns and still been under the number. There are alot of distractions in Las Vegas maybe that had something to do with it. I am not claiming to be right on this issue, I'm just curious to hear some other people's perspective on why Hawai'i would intentionally tank it so badly.

Someone lost a bet on Hawaii and sent in a letter to the Feds crying foul. Does this shock me? Hell no it doesn't. Just look at these forums on a Saturday or Sunday and see all the whining girl crying about how all games are fixed. Everyone crying fix just does so because it makes them feel better about a loss. They just can't handle that they possibly capped a game wrong. Am I totally brushing aside this case? No, but I need to see MUCH more evidence than a letter sent an anonymous letter sent in by what I pressume to be a covers forum member.

Hawaii tanked the UNLV game. Check the moneyline hostory. Hawaii has a huge gambling problem in that state. I used to live in Hawaii and could find a bookie  any block you walk. am sure their QB had to have been in on it. meth and gambling run rampant in Hawaii. Don't mess with those filps.

dont believe what the honolulu police department says as well. they are the most corrupt in the nation by far. why are they handling the investigation? there always has been a big underwold in hawaii that also controls politics. the machine runs the roost in that state.

this is nonsense. hawaii just sucks, plain & simple. why can't anyone accept how bad they suck this year.

in that san jose state game, which i watched, there was a point in the game that hawaii could have kicked a gimmee FG. retard coach goes for it on 4th down & fails. The special team failures cost them that game.

utah state. you would need not only moniz shitting the bed, but the defense.

put these 2 games together & you have terrible coaching, terrible offense, terrible defense & terrible special teams. AKA the entire team would have to be in on the fix. even in legit point shaving, the scam is limited to a key player or 2. not a whole friggin team full of terrible players that cant even kick a field goal.

this story would have legs if vegas reported odd gambling activity. short of that, the story is nothing more then hawaii sucks.

i am  originally from hawaii so i am not surprised if its true, or how big the cover up will be.  .players have to be involved especially the QB if they are going to intentionally tank a game..

I hadn't considered the moneyline aspect, however don't these guys have any pride to at least make a semi-respectable showing? On second thought I guess anyone that would intentionally sell out his teamates probably doesn't have any self pride.

I use thaty term myself as a mockery of the monotonous redundancy of "it isn't rocket science" and/or "it isn't brain surgery".

i need to interject into the conversation between Teaser78 and -29-... you guys are looking at this much too simplistically... don't do that!  that is what makes scams like these possible...

Hawaii wasn't trying to lose that game straight up... somebody else already pointed out their M.O.... fall behind early to bad teams, then make a 2nd half comeback, enough to win but not cover...

but OF COURSE, you do that and you're playing with fire... Hawaii gave away the first half, and UNLV TOOK the 2nd half from them, because Hawaii isn't a good enough team to just turn it off and turn it on... this isn't Oregon or LSU... we're talking about a below average team to begin with...

they weren't TRYING to lose the game... come on!  you gotta be smart about these things, because once people start getting into ridiculous scenarios, it all falls apart, and these people get away with it...

see it for what it is!

remember guys... they lost the SJ St game, too!

same situation... fall behind first half... make a furious comeback in the 2nd half... unfortunately, Hawaii had to give up a 2 pt conversion to make the spread 5 (not covering) instead of 8 (covering)... and by doing that, they left the door open for SJ St to win the game on a late TD... which they did!

Hawaiiguy sighting, too bad under this circumstance.  Can you offer more about this?

that is a very good point!  when these things surface, Vegas is always the first to know... but they will never make a peep about it until the FBI gets involved on their end...

think about it... if Vegas knows a team is shaving points, that's a money-maker for them... because they can shave the lines in that direction, and induce all this money to be bet on the team that is shaving points...

look at that line for this week's game... 17 points at home against Tulane?  i think a lot of us looked at that line and thought it was a gift!  i didn't bet it personally because i had already suspected this team wasn't making an effort to win games...

but i'll bet a bunch of people jumped on Hawaii before this story broke...

ok you say what you want ... I know what I saw and the action on the ml bets in vegas speaks for itself.  A game that open at +1600 and closed at +700 .... Unlv got so much ML action the line moved that much ... things that makes you go mmmmm ... Why the hell would anyone bet ML on Unlv  plus Moniz was giving the ball away go back and watch the game dude .. you stop .... as far as the SJSU game they tried there best to give that game away and be down 20 at the half but its not there fault SJSU is horrible and everytime Moniz throw a horrible pick that my mother wont throw .. SJSU would just turn the ball back over ...  please we will see but I bet you someone will be getting arrested and federal charges are coming

still thinking too simplistically...

if you know a team is favored by 18 points, and they are shaving points... wouldn't you bet the ML???  of course!  it is just common sense... a team that is trying to shave points is in serious jeopardy of losing the game...

yea, it's possible they were trying to lose, but based on the evidence from other games, and the nature of point-shaving, i think you're barking up the wrong tree...

and i watched the Hawaii-UNLV game... at least until i got sick to my stomach... yes!  Hawaii, and Moniz, were definitely fixing games... i would bet everything i have on it...
