Disclaimer: A huge fan of both teams although AU is my favorite. Became a fan of the quack attack in the mid 90's when ESPN was showing a lot of their games in the 9-930pm time slot and as a result became a fan of the PAC10(a rarity in the deep south) because the high scoring games are a trip to watch.
The disparity at QB is glaring, the only team that shut down Newton was Mississippi State in our second game of the season. We had no idea of Cams capabilities and tried to use him in a standard offensive plan and barely squeaked the game out 17-14. Toss out this game and hes lights out and damn near unstoppable.
Auburn's size, speed and athleticism on both sides of the ball will be unlike anything Oregon has seen this year and is impossible to duplicate in practice. Oregons hurry up offense will have minimal effect on the Auburn D as they go up against our own version of the hurry up in practice every day.
We will contain though not stop the OU outside running game with our speed and atheticism and force the OU QB to beat us through the air which he is not comfortable doing.

agree that Oregon doesn't have the same type of athletes....I was the one in these forums last bowl season listing reasons they couldn't beat Ohio St, but very few seemed to listen. Oregon is a good team and fun to watch, as you note, but with 1 win over a ranked team, they should be at least a 6 or 7 pt dog here IMO...

If you were really an Oregon fan for 15+ years you would never call them OU.

Apologies mistook Oregon for Oklahoma which has a recent history of running through the regular season only to get blown out in their BCS bowl game. QUACK QUACK

Darron Thomas has over 2500 yards passing as well as a 28-7 td to int ratio. Auburn has a fine front 7, but they also sport one of the worst pass d's in the country.

Youre quoting passing statistics in the PAC 10 for gods sake!! Who cares about D in that conference?

Your pass defense will suffer when you are up 4 TDs by the 3rd quarter and the other team is playing catchup...

Six of Auburns 8 wins have come by 8 points or less. In two other wins by DD Auburn was either losing (Ark) or up by 4(UGA) in the 4th q. I would hardly say they have blown (other than USCe) good teams out of the water.

I should have noted 8 wins vs average/good regular season competition. Lets not forget that AU has actually had to come from behind a few times themselves. Bama, GA, Clemson games all come to mind.

Average?good? Auburns strength of schedule(sos) was 6th in the country I believe. Oregon was in the 50's, just face it Duck homer you are terrified of Auburn and know you will have to play a perfect game to have a chance.

I moved to Oregon just this past year, and I have stated before that I am a UNLV fan. Since I now live here I will pull for the Ducks in this game, but to call me homer is far from accurate.
I had earlier responded to a statement you had made about Darron Thomas not wanting to "beat you through the air". After I had pointed out that DT is a good passing qb you pulled the whole "pac 10- doesn't play d" angle. Well, UO put up 52 on Stanford, who only gives up about 18 pts a game. Arizona also has an above average D, and the Ducks put up 48 on them.
the court jester then implied that AU's pass ranking was low b/c other teams were passing while playing catch up. That is NOT TRUE. Auburn has been in lot of tight games this year. They have also had a few lucky breaks while Oregon has only had 1 I can think of.

Your comment proves the following:
1. You post on a message board even when you are ignorant about the facts.
or
2. You are a trash talking flamer that lies
or
3. You have some inside info that Auburn, SEC, NCAA and the FBI does not have. I find this highly unlikely.
Since you are from Georgia though I would like to hear your thoughts on the correlation between the University of Georgia recruiting so many thugs (10 arrests since March) and the poor product that Mark Richt put on the field this past season. Also is thUGA recruiting thugs, or is being low lives something they teach when they get there? Watching the chop blocks and amazing amount of personal foul penalities they get I am leaning towards thinking it is taught.

I'm an Auburn homer but I have a diffferent take. Oregon has a very well coached team and 30 days to prepare. I think the Ducks can play with anyone and Auburn will have their hands full. However in the end I like AUs chances of wearing out their D before they can wear out our's. That is because I think by the end of the game AU's o-line will take control and AU will keep the Duck offense on the sidelines. Also in Oregon's toughest games they relied on LMJ to carry the ball a lot (30+ carries). I don't see that working so well against AU and I think Oregon becomes one dimensional. I expect both teams to put up 35 points though and AU to be the first to 40 and grinding up lots of clock for the win.

Is this a prime example of a stellar SEC defensive game? Sure looks PAC10-ish.
Who uses one game to judge an entire conference? If I pick James Madison vs Va Tech does that mean the ACC is no better than a non FBS league? What does Cal vs Oregon mean?

Who uses one game to judge an entire conference? Not I. Just pointing out the fact that the two highest ranked teams in the SEC faced off, and in the 3rd Quarter it was 37-35 with Arkansas driving. They completed a 23 yrd pass the first minute of the 4th quarter, and after taking the lead, the Razorbacks were done scoring, and they stopped on 43 points. Seems to me a game between the best teams in the SEC is worth taking a look at, and it was not a defensive juggernaut--both sides scored at will. Arkansas was done in the 4th quarter, Auburn wasn't.
If I pick James Madison vs Va Tech does that mean the ACC is no better than a non FBS league?
Huh? Again, we're talking about the best of the SEC facing each other. Just using perception or passing along rhetoric from a talking head of ESPN about the SEC, or any number of ignorant SEC ravers, is not factual. A game actually played is factual and more substantial than perceived reputation. The SEC Championship was played very loosely and was not a defensive game as many thought it would be.
What does Cal vs Oregon mean?
Am I supposed to answer that, or is that a moronic question, or a question for Socrates? I don't know. What does Cal vs Oregon mean? CAL could score more than 20 points in only 2 of their last 9 games.Clemson has had similar issues on offense. Still, the Tigers took Auburn to OT, and maybe would've won were it not for a motion penalty--the kick was good, then it wasn't.

Your post had nothing to do with comparisons. You didn't add anything to the conversation or give any meaning or analysis other than to say something inflammatory. In your last post your break down my first question and actually attempt to take the two (sarcastic) examples out of context as stand alone questions was fail. Surely your reading comprehension can't be that bad.
Now if you had of expanded on your thought process and used it as an example of how the AU has been much better in 2nd halfs and how the defense has improved over the course of the season then that would have been helpful.

The line has dropped. I suggest all oregon backers jump on this quickly as the smaller slower and weaker team will surely cover +3. Better yet invest your money in Enron.
