The GOY is for the year thus far. That means there could be another GOY later (just saying so people understand). I have been here for a long time and am not one to do GOY stuff all the time, but when I do its usually the Tigers, both for and against, and I am rarely wrong.
Now onto this week. I have been waiting for this scenario for 3 weeks now. Everything fell into place. Mizzou is 5-0 and ranked 21st in the nation (or close). Texas A&M lost @ OK ST in a game they could have easily won (turnovers killed them) and then lost to Arkansas this past weekend at Jerry World....
What I'm counting on is Mizzou sucking on the road. Its the middle of October and they havent left Missouri (Illinois game was in STL). I have been a fan of MU for years, and they NEVER travel well. Now they have to play their first road game at College Station, a place that is top 10 in the nation as far as toughest places to play.
Against "decent" competition, Mizzou has averaged 25 ppg. They lack the deep threat they had last year. TJ Moe is leading the nation in receptions at around 10 per game.Hidden in A&Ms record in the fact that the are 14th in the nation in offense and 24th in defense (7th vs rush)...not too shabby. Mizzou is 42nd in offense and 30th in defense, but a ton of those numbers can from beating Mcneese st and Miami Oh a combined 101-19....
Gabbert got injured (hip pointer) vs Colorado, but will play. The running game has sucked for a long time for the Tigers and this defense is gonna be a cupcake. Gabbert will have to march this team down the field with 5-15 yard passes. He doesnt make many mistakes, but doesnt have a lot of explosiveness around him.
I expect Mizzou to hang tough for a bit, but I really dont think they will score more than 24 points. The defense will get their first true test, and I think the fail. Jerrod Johnson should be able to make big plays passing and running.
I wont even comment on how shitty I think Gary Pinkel is as a coach.
Tex A&M 41 Mizz 20
Texas A&M -1 LARGE
other plays:
Baylor pk
UCF -5.5
WV -10 (hook)
Clemson -13.5
GT -19
TT -2
Iowa -3
Texas +10 (hook)
N Ill -14
BYU +30
BG +21.5
Illinois +7.5
probably Kentucky....wait and see
Take the Mizzou play for what its worth, which is just one mans opinion. Its not a "lock". I just feel Mizzou is in for a looooong saturday.....

Good write up on the A&M game. I'd say that the final score would look like 27 Mis 35 A&M with the game being a lot closer that some people would expect.

the old lookahead "spot", you are now a "spot" handicapper I love it Train
I think I do a decent job assessing everything I can. Spots/situations, lines etc. I definately get better every year and pick up things. Its so hard to factor in everything that one should in order to make the correct play. I still go with my gut quite a bit despite what I see. What I know about gambling would fill a couple books.....what I dont know would fill a library

you have improved each year Train, you are on the same sides as me and BGK most of the time, you know that is a good formula
I hope A&M makes it easy for us, I hate tough games, I want all easy winners, it is much less stress over the course of a whole season
too bad it doesn't happen that way enough

Train I sure hope you are right. I will likely be on my Ags as well, but am nervous given that they have lost 11 straight games when on television. Sherman desperately needs this win though or he might completely lose the fan base.

Dirty Harry was pretty good at what he did. His motto, "Every man has to know his limitations." Too many people around here act like they know it all. Nice to see someone humble for a change. BOL this week Train.
