Iowa Vs Arizona

Question

Not many big games this weekend, with Iowa vs Arizona being the biggest. Iowa & Arizona have both played well to open up the Season. Spread opens up @ -1 in favor for Iowa...

. With the return of Jewel Hampton @ running back, & the way Adam Robinson has been running, the Hawks are looking to make a run at the Big 10 Championship. They have two stud receivers in Marvin McNutt & DJK, and a QB(Rick Stanzi) that hasn't had to attempt more then 20 passes in each of his first to games. They both have potent offenses, I believe this game comes down to how well the Hawkeye defense contains Nick Foles & the Wild Cats air attack. Hawkeyes D-Line has a big game, they control the clock & keep the Arizona offense on the sidelines. If Iowa wins the turnover battle, they win this game by 2 scores.

The Iowa defense will win this game for them. IMO theyre the best in the country along with Alabama and Ohio St.

Im all over Zona here myself. Think Iowa is one of the most overrated teams in the country.

Zona has the D and the running game to put Iowa down. Surely dont trust Iowa laying any amount of points on the road - and neither does Vegas.

Iowa dominated this game last year. Take away the pick-six and the TD with 1:53 left in the game (when AZ was down 27-10), and this is a 27-3 game last year. Iowa's offense is better this year, and the defense is just as good.

Arizona's defense could not keep the Iowa offense off the field last year (37:56 TOP for the Hawks), and I don't see that changing much this year. Iowa's offense is too big and physical for the Cats defense. Iowa rolls here, 31-14.

Agreed - Iowa&#x27;s front 4 are sick.  Clayborn is a beast.  Hawkeyes shut out ISU until the last drive when the 3rd string D was against 1st team offense.  Stanzi gets it done in the desert and Iowa wins by 10.&#xD;&#xA;BOL

This should be a great game, I&#x27;d give the edge to the home team in this one but with that said I&#x27;d stay away from it.  Too tough to cap IMO

This line stinks. It seems like they are begging you to take Iowa? I feel that Iowa is very solid this year, but why is the line so low? I agree with RJ Sizzle that Iowa on the road could lay an egg here.

Foles will spread this Defense out and play short passes and mix up the play-calling to slow down Iowa's D.

I'm siding with Zona here.

From what I&#x27;ve read all the Pro betters are on Zona....&amp; the public is behind Iowa, I usually try to avoid siding w/ the public, but I&#x27;ll make an exception here, I think Iowa is that good this year

Iowa always has 1 or 2 games in September when they play down to the lower classed team.  First, Zona is not a lower classed team (pac-10 vs big ten).  Iowa is more likely to lose to UNI then Zona. Second, Iowa is solid this year.  QB - Good when he manages the game and doesn&#x27;t try to be the hero - Check so for this yer. Running back x2.  Iowa can plug and play either of these guys and manage the clock.  If Iowa controls the clock and the cornfed D line in Claybon and binns show up then Iowa wins by more than a field goal.

Im on Arizona. The home team wins here, Foles is completing over 80% of his passes this year also. Iowa is overrated, They will never win the Big Ten Championship as long as Ferentz is there.

I am taking the bait with iowa. The public is pounding Iowa.  My book has 94% of the money on Iowa.  Prime for an upset.  I am already in so I am hoping my analysis is right. I like Stanzi and the Iowa D.  Still early and I expect the lines will tighten over the next couple weeks.

[/Quote]At least someone sees it the way I do....I dont get all the unabashed love for the road team here. Zona isnt your typical Pac10 team. This game is doing Iowa no favors being scheduled at 730pst. I dont know. Its not always the better team on paper who wins the game. Intangibles play a keep part in the college game and I think they push Zona over the edge. To expect Iowa to put up as many points as they did at home last year is silly. The situations arent even close. You cant compare separate games unless they are in the same spot/situation. Its just going to mislead you. Gl to all who have told us how Zona has no chance. I will see if we can get them that memo and then they dont even need to waste their time showing up. Could save Iowa some money on a cross-country flight, too.

The line is so low because Arizona&#x27;s the home team ranked in the top 25...HELLO??  It&#x27;s going to be a close game but Iowa is used to playing close games where as Arizona is used to either destroying competition or getting destroyed lol.  Arizona&#x27;s defense is the reason why they are going to lose.  They don&#x27;t have enough talent on that side of the ball to beat Iowa IMO.

Would like to take AZ here for the simple fact that these teams appear equal and AZ holds a good home field at night. However, early this year AZ D Line is getting blown off the ball by weak opponents. With Iowa's offensive line, I expect that to continue. No play for me.
