I don't see BYU leaving. I think they are just saying they are leaving to get some leverage. Every team in the MWC gets a cut of the BYU TV deal. I think BYU will get a much bigger cut of the revenue and remain in the MWC. It makes financial sense for BYU to be Independent, but it is more logical to stick with the MWC with the additions of Boise, Fresno, and Nevada.

Right before the Big 12 was created, I was living in Lawrence, KS and had a few friends who were coaches at KU. The powers that be were telling the coaches that the plan wa sthe conference was going to be the "Super 12" and that BYU was a part of it. I believe that Baylor was the odd team out until the Texans strong armed the Big 8 Schools into taking Baylor.
Maybe they are looking into BYU as an 11th team along with someone like TCU or New Mexico
