Fla line up to 44!!! Watch out for the "back door cover"!!

There is NO WAY I am laying 44 pts this late in the season especially to the unpredictable Gators.  I know I'm gonna take heat for this from all you Swamp Fanatics but just look at what FIU has done this year....can they score??  Yes, put up 14pts vs a tough Alabama team in game 1 and are averaging over 25pts/game.  THIS is their SUPERBOWL!!  They will be playing like its a 3 pt game right up until the horn blows. Florida on the other hand, they are looking toward an inner-state showdown with Fla St next week.  This has got a back door cover written all over it!!  Fla by 35 at half time and final score....Fla 56-17

interesting line here, usually rule of thumb is to take the highest line on the board, but FLA hasn't blown anyone out all year

Florida -44 now....Watch and see all these GATOR backers cry when they are up by 37 or 39 points and on the 15 yard line with under 2 minutes just to take a knee....Like last week!!!  Yea, I was on florida last week and it PISSED ME OFF!!  I watched them act barely interested in playing a metiocre South Carolina team.  Not gonna get burned this week.

I could see this happening except Fla has the best D in the country.

#1 points allowed
#2 against pass
#10 against the run

Not many 40 point spreads with top tier teams this year. Do remember Ohio St favored by 44 this and they covered. Would never think OSU could cover that spread with that offense. But with their D they did and so can Fla. My point is how will FLINT score? I could easily see a shut out and Fla D scoring a few plus K/P returns. The offense may only have to score half the points.

Duke+29.5

Maryland +29

Fla Intnat'l +55

Any thoughts???

its gonna be senior day that should be the incentive at -42 maybe i would of put it in a little parlay at --44 that seems a little steep for straight wager now . isee something like 52-7 florida late and fi gets a last min td

I actually want to take FIU but im afraid it will be like 49-3... FIU's offense will need a miracle to score a TD, and with them trying to force things it will make us score defensively or just own the field position badly.

I think Florida ROLLS in this game. 

Research I've uncovered so far:

  • Urban Meyer ain't gonna do anyone any favors
  • Tebow trying to break Kevin Faulk's SEC record for TDs
  • Florida offense will get big chunks on the ground with Demps, Rainey, Tebow. 
  • Florida will throw with Brantley well into the third quarter
  • Florida D should get a couple of TD's or set them up on turnovers
  • FIU QB and best WR/PR is dinged up
  • FIU defense very porous
  • FIU O-line given up 32 sacks

Only thing that concerns me is what someone mentioned early about the backdoor cover with Paul McCall marching down the field with six minutes left in the game and scoring a TD.  That's how they covered against Rutgers.  With six minutes left in the game.  Two TD's  - - backdoor covered'em.

Regardless, going two dimes on Florida -44.5.

thats guts.  before you even start the game you're already down seven scores.  if florida international breaks the 10point barrier you're going to need even more points for a successful cover.  i don't think its worth it.

here's just a few reasons why not to jump on the 40+ line.  First of all, Florida is going to be up 35-0 at half time...we all can agree to that.  Tebow and all the other top starting players will barely see any playing time in the 2nd half  to save em for next weeks BIG showdown with innerstate Florida State.  2nd, Florida International is going to play like it's THEIR superbowl...  ALL GAME LONG!!!  What does this mean??  Florida Internation WILL back door cover!!  They are very good against the run and florida will be up 49-0 and start to run the ball every down.  I see Fla International forcing some punts late and with their 1st team offense going against Florida's 3rd team defense, I see 2 late scores by Fla International to back door cover.  Florida 56-17

we have all been told for so long how much better the SEC is than the rest of the conferences. so how could FIU in the sunbelt conference possibly come within 6 TDs of the best of the best.

I agree with kittsd, the under is the play here, Meyer will have his starters out by the 4th quarter (believe it or not). Too many big games coming up... The under is the play along with FIU (+45).....
