What a long week of school, but a rewarding one. I got news that my class has improved more than anyone in our school. I had 2 kids out of 21 that were on grade level in September and at the end of October I have 16 out of 21. I’ve been busting my ass at school trying to get these kids reading on grade level. I also was invited to teach, kids and teachers at another school some strategies and games that I use in my own class. To top it off, the principals had to leave this afternoon and I took over as the “Principal” of 1100 kids. Nothing better than two kids coming in and one says “I punched him after he called my mom fat.” The other says, “ I kicked him in the nuts because he punched me.” Kids kill me sometimes.
Enough about school. Got my ass handed to me last week in football in general. Hopefully I have found better games this week. Tread lightly because I might be serious fade material right now. But hopefully I can get some wins this week. As always…good luck to everyone.
Oklahoma St -7
I know they looked like trash last week. Wow, I couldn’t believe how ugly that one was. But I think they bounce back against a very mediocre Iowa St. team. Iowa St has scored 19 total points in their last two.(one coming against a pretty bad AM defense) Okie beat them 59-17 last season. Looking at common opponents:
Okie @ Bay W 34-7=27 point win, ISU home vs. Baylor 24-10= 14 point win. Okie scored more and held them to less points on the road.
Okie @ AM 36-31=5 point win
ISU @ AM 10-35= 25 point loss Okie scored more and held them to less plus won the game.
Vandy at Florida over 48
I would think with my thoughts on this it would be smarter to take the -35 but I just can’t lay that number personally. GT ran up 56 on Vandy last week(with a clock eating running game) I think Florida could possibly get to 45 points by themselves. Their D will put them in great field position throughout the game. In the last 4 meetings at home against Vandy Florida has hung 49, 49,35, 71 on them. They also put up 42 on the road last year. Hopefully Vandy’s new QB gets things rolling for at least a TD.
Kent St -3
Going with the common opponents theme Kent St beat Ohio on the road 20-11 while Akron lost at home to Ohio 7-19! Kent St offense hasn’t been great but their D has. Akron is on their 3rd QB. Kent is 4-1 in Mac play while Akron is 0-4. Kent’s four losses have come to BG, Baylor, Iowa St, and BC.
Kansas vs. Kansas St. over 55
Kansas has given up 42, 35, 34(TO COLORADO!!) 36(To IOWA ST!) and 28 in their last 5 games!. Kansas St should be able to hang 28 on them, they did put 30 on Oklahoma last week. Kansas is also due to get their offense rolling. Looks like a nice 70 degree weather day in Kansas and hopefully the scores will be as high.
Texas AM -2.5
I just can’t pass a line this low against Colorado who is awful. Besides beating Kansas they have sucked balls all year. Hawkins doesn’t know who to start at QB because they both blow. They had 176 yds. Last week. AM seems to be playing good ball in their last two and their offense should have a field day. Even though their D is bad, Colorado probably won’t be able to muster anything against them.
Troy vs. WKU over 63
I know who cares about this game? I do! Troy in their last 3 has avg. 44.7 ppg while WKU 31.7 ppg. WKU has given up 53.3 in their last 3 games.(260 yards rushing per game) WKU gave up 68 and 62 points in their last 2. They have given up 60+ points 3 times this year. It’s worth a try even though I don’t really watch these teams. But I will tomorrow…..well maybe.

#14 Posted: 11/6/2009 11:42:29 PM Awesome write up bud. Your card looks solid. i am on a couple of these myself.
Love the Kent st play as I think akron is awful and should be an easy blowout 17 or more imo. Like Texas A&M but slightly nervous of the line movements this week. Overall I think youll have a very profitable week. |

#21 Posted: 11/7/2009 1:03:23 AM KC,
Always read and appreciate the posting of your weekly picks. With all due respect, I feel Vandy is the play tomorrow. As a UF alumnus & season ticket holder, I don't see us covering tomorrow. Brantley and the Fre/Soph will be in for Tebow and upperclassmen midway through the third quarter. If we don't cover by halftime, I don't see it happening. It is a personal rule, that I don't bet against the Gators, but I wouldn't bet for them tomorow. Hope I am wrong!!!!
Good Luck!! |
