#3 Posted: 12/7/2008 8:23:55 PM As a Buckeye fan, I'm pretty worried about this match-up. Yes, OSU has a decent defense, but I can see Texas rolling 40+ on the Bucks.....if both teams come to play, could be one of the better BCS bowls. |

#6 Posted: 12/7/2008 8:34:11 PM Penn St just might suprise the Trojans. I'm really pulling for Joe Pa and actually think Penn St does have a chance in this game. |

OSU is not one of the big 12 defenses.

You're right...they're much slower and will get torched by McCoy, in my opinion!
I hope I'm wrong. I would love to see a couple great BCS games this year, but I don't see it happening.
USC will dominate Penn State.
Texas will dominate Ohio State.
Alabama will dominate Utah.
VT and Cincinnati could be a nice matchup, but who really cares?
I can see the Oklahoma/Florida matchup going either way, but I think Florida will end up winning by 10+. |

#15 Posted: 12/8/2008 2:52:37 PM I wrote this on another thread, but it stopped, probably because I killed it. lol. But seriously --I would love to hear some thoughts.
Texas - Ohio State is a tough one. Ohio State has been improving all
season and there isn't a lot on their minds other than getting better
and playing a hell of a game. Maybe a little BCS redemption too, but
that never hurt anyone.
I hold Pryor in the highest regards as a
competitor. I think we are going to see very much a "Sophomore
looking" Terrel than the Freshman he is...
That being said
Texas just may be the best team in the Country. They had a nasty
streak of four tough games and just came up short against a Red-Hot
Tech Team, but man was Texas beat-up. Four tough games in a row like that is unheard of in College Football.
Will
they be playing "show we belong football" like Georgia last year or
will they deflate like the Oklahoma teams of recent past?
Georgia
almost back-doored the Championship Game last year whereas I think
Texas might feels as though they lost it and are wondering what they
have to play for?
Lastly oh how I wish Texas was matched up against Bama - I think they would have crushed them.
And Ohio State would have been more than happy to dismantle the Utes,

#17 Posted: 12/8/2008 3:16:01 PM Well I must say I knew this was going to be a thread before I even came into the forum. I know many of you see me as a homer and you probably see me right. As of now I will give a brief review of the game (a detailed one will come closer to game time).
Texas does not run a pure spread which is always a good thing for Ohio State. They are also not from the SEC which is even better for Ohio State. The best aspect for the Buckeyes is that the strength of the team is their pass defense. There is enough talent in the secondary to stiffen the Texas pass attack.
With this being said Ohio State is running into a very bad situation. They are facing the team that should be in the title game and I have nothing but great things to say about Colt. He runs the offense with precision and does not miss.
Ohio State will have trouble unless they do what they have failed to do consistently all season. They need to utilize the play action early in the count and they need to use a few "gadget" plays to keep Texas off balance. Pryor simply does not have the mechanics to throw a team anywhere. He is at his best when he is rolling out off the play action. If Tressel continues to try and pound the ball on first and second down and leave Pryor in obvious passing situations they will get destroyed. If Tressel does do this than Ohio State will have the ability to control the ball, which controls the clock, which control Colt. They won't win a shootout and need to keep this game "low-scoring." I do think the Bucks have a vastly superior defense as well as a run game. Traditionally if this is the case than a team should win with ease. The problem is that this Texas team can throw the ball and simply beat you by scoring on every possession. 8 is a lot of points on a neutral field. |

#18 Posted: 12/8/2008 4:46:30 PM OSU's defense won't know what hit them. Texas will confuse the hell out of OSU. I think OSU's defense is way overrated. Not a big fan.

#20 Posted: 12/9/2008 12:03:28 AM looks like this is more of a horn thread but I kind of feel the vest in this spot- not set yet, just kind of feels like a touchdown game at best - Happy holidays fellow players |

#22 Posted: 12/9/2008 12:18:44 AM Just remember, OSU went to Austin and destroyed Texas 2 years ago. You can say that is not relevant, but many of the starters in this game played in that game also. Now this is on a neutral field , and OSU will probably have more of a crowd edge. Texas hasn't exactly done great against the top teams they played, they were lucky to beat Oklahoma, and they were dominated by TEX Tech for much of the game. Other than that they didn't play any other good teams. Yeah they got stiffed by the BCS, which may leave them flat in this game. Historically teams that really get stiffed by the BCS, either left out of the NC or the top bowls, well they do terribly in the bowls they are relegated to. |

i really like this texas team ....BUT this will be BY A MILE....the best D they have faced (before you say ou/ok st better check box scores)....ohio st is very talented (equally or more talented than horns)....horns are still young team and struggle here ...don't think buckeyes won't be ready...

#24 Posted: 12/9/2008 1:02:25 AM I'll take 10 w/ the buckeyes every day of the week. I think they can put up 4 TD's, and I don't see more than 5 for the horns...Hell I even think they have a chance to win this outright.
Big plays all game in this one, like the Bucks and the over
