I love my Red Sox and I have loved what Manny has done for us and I am not sure we made the right move but.
I compare Manny to a bitchy wife that is really hot and is great in bed but doesn’t stop bitching. Being hot and good in bed is great and something we would all want but if she wouldn’t stop bitching how much could one handle.
If you could trade the bitchy wife ( Manny) for one that was not quit as hot ( Bay) and hopefully almost as good in bed and never complained or bitched what would you do?
I am a little sad to see Manny gone but am looking forward to seeing Jason Bay smacking the ball over the monster.

Like the ny dodgers to do well in the final games this year....will see how manny does against NL pitchers....gets the big unit today ...How bout the w-sox pick up of JR. could be a better aquasition.

very very very accurately stated. but damn the man can hit haha.
i think maybe his D gets exposed a little though in LA? i mean, in boston he knew exactly how to play every bounce off that monster .... but in LA he has to cover ALOT more ground ... should be interesting!!

LOL, it is a perfect analogy Lou, and yes, coming from a lifelong diehard Sox fan, the prudent move was to jettison Manny away as far away as possible, and lala is that place. He's going to miss Fenway, as Chavez Ravine wont be as kind to him. Now he can hobnob with his buddy Nomar.
No doubt, his act has grown old, as he had become a cancer in the clubhouse, and that child within him, has always been on display throughout his career.
Good riddance, now WE can have peace around Fenway.

Everything i was gonna say has already been said, so allow me to repeat.
Bay will accel in Boston, and they are still one of the best teams, even though they lost their best hitter. Papi just came back, so with adding Bay, they didn't take the hugest of steps back. They wouldn't of had Manny past this year had they not traded him, so now they can throw Bay in the mix, and get back to the goal at hand: denying the Yanks.
I wonder how manny will make out in left in LAD, that's a whole new ballgame for sure. NL pitchers will be able to pitch around him more with his supporting cast as compared to the Sox lineup you really couldn't pitch around him

As a FAN, Manny was a hot babe excellent in bed and his "bitching" was something that could go in one ear and out the other.
I could careless about his "bitching". As long as he helps the team win with his hitting. Was he not a reason why the Red Sox were winning without Ortiz? He started off pretty damn hot. He helped us rally in at least 3-4 games (can name the Minny and Cleveland game off the top of my head). He was also prepared to be in great shape for the season. What about all the traveling fans cheering on Manny when he hit is 500th in Baltimore? Or the the time he laughed with his teammates while watching a replay of his catch-high 5-throw out play? All of a sudden his positive things are shadowed by the recent negative things the media desperately wanted us to see..."the bitching." But really, as a fan, you could careless.
As with some of his issues that may disrupt the clubhouse...well I don't buy that. Even his scuffle with Youk. Those two train together in the offseason. Two close teammates that got into a scuffle. Not that big of a deal. Are there other scuffles inside locker rooms that don't leak out? Most likely, hell yeah. Its not like it affected their hitting. These are professional men that won't let a scuffle bother them mentally. Unless of course it was something bigger then a scuffle. Like fist landing and no room left for making up. Something like that would then be a danger to the chemistry of the team.
The fact that he was the MVP in 2004 and was a reason the Sox won the title last year, just give the guy what he wants. Fans loved him in Boston and thats the only thing that should matter. Hes not going to be like a Pedro since hes got at least another good 4-5 years ahead of him. I'm pretty sure hes not going to become injured and become a no show like Nomar either.
One of the sox radio broadcaster is now saying Manny is "Greedy" and stating crap like "Manny is having a press conference in L.A later today...we'll tune in to it and will listen to him...that is, if he even shows up." What would make him state that? "If he even shows up?" ---It amazes me how they can turn on him just like that after what hes brought to the Red Sox organization.

I don't know about this analogy.
