Interesting. Look who came out flat after the Yankee/Red Sox series here.
 
2.5 games back, with Pettitte going tomorrow.
 
And the way you know they are scared, is because they chose to let Buchholz pitch over Mr. Overpaid Dice-K.

Red Sox are gonna pitch Clay even though he's nearing his inning limit? I thought that's why he went to the pen in the first place...

To me it looks like a desperation move. If the Yankees were in the Tigers position, they would probably make Joba a starter. (Well probably not, but you get what I'm saying) Clay looks like he has better stuff then Dice-K, but that may be due to the fact that he is a great young player like Joba. If your great and nobody knows you, you can pitch great. But overall, the Yankees are catching the Sox, and Red Sox Nation is running scared.

Oh I'm with ya, Clay is legit and I really think Dice K is overrated. The Yanks and Sox hold the 3 best pitching prospects to come up this year and 2 of them are on the Yanks.
 
I just think it's funny that they're going to let Clay pitch. People made a huge deal about brekaing the Joba Rules, I wonder how people react to this.

I said this before (being a Red Sox backer) in another thread. It doesn't matter who wins the division. We'll see you Yankee fans in the playoffs and may the better team win Game 7.

look, i don't give a shit if the Yankees win the division...I just want the Yankees to win the wildcard and avoid the Angels at all costs

chilitokid And thats exactly what I am hoping for. A Yankee/Red Sox ALCS. That always gets attention.
 
InternetTuffguy Lets see...Yankees win the AL East, and Angels get the better record then the Indians, and face the Sox. The Sox know how to handle the Angels, they play very good against them. But we wont know until it gets more spread out. I think as of now, the Indians/Angels have the same record, pending an Angels win, which looks good with Lackey pitching a gem. But I wouldn't be suprised if the Indians clinch the AL Central, and blow off a few games, pending on where the Yankees are, because the Bombers are 6-0 vs them this season.

Yanks are feasting on probably the worst team in baseball and everyone here gives them the division. 
 
Come Monday after the Sox whip up on Tampa and the Yanks lose two out of three to Halladay, Marcum and McGowan (clearly not that far off), this thread will be no where to be found. 
 
Manny wil likely be back tonight and the Sox clinch the division next Wednesday or Thursday Night.......book it!

Yanks just went 5-1 against the Jays over the last 2 weeks

allow me to correct myself....the beatdown I was remembering against the Jays at the stadium was a while ago (not within the last 2 weeks).....either way, Yanks have handled Jays well this season, then they get Tampa for 3 and the Os again for 3......Sox have every reason to be worried

The Yanks can handle their own against the Jays. Halladay is tough, and the Yanks will have a problem against him probably. But Wang is opposing him and he will bounce back for sure after a rare bad outing.

Then Ian Kennedy, who shut the Jays down last time out, will get a great chance to do it again in front of the home crowd. And then Marcum got lit up last time out.

And on Sunday, Clemens, who wouldn't have given up a run against the Sox if it wasn't for Damon's error, will get his chance to shut down the Jays possibly if he is on the ball. They face McGowan, who they didn't really hurt, but beat with Mussina's great start.

Finally they face Burnett, which will be another problem, but the Yankees will take at least 3 games of this 4 game series.

Funny thing is, what every red flops fan is saying now is that it doesnt matter if they win the division or not......(now thats its this close that is, lol). A month ago, two, even three months ago they sang a different tune, more like, hey we won the division already, yanks will be lucky to even make the playoffs, "NO WAY Yanks catch the Flops". Now all of the sudden the division crown means nothing? Oh, I thought home field advantage, in any sport, was a very good thing......Has this changed??? I guess its just as nice for a team from Boston to travel 3000 miles to Anehiem, oh yeah, this is just as easy as playing at home, lmfao. GO YANKS!!!

Clay B. pitched tonight,skipping Dice K., to set the rotation for the playoffs.  Beckett, Dice K., Schilling would be the order for the first round, the same order for the upcoming Tampa Bay series.  Blue Jays have solid pitching- 3.45 ERA post all star break, best in the majors, and yes I was on their UNDER run last month.  So basically, the Yankees go from playing the worst team ERA 6.04 post all star to the best.  Good Luck.

The Yanks get two out of four and were EXTREMELY lucky to get that. (as predicted they did not sweep and were lucky to get the two they got).
 
The Sox have a 2 game lead with six left for both squads. 
 
It'll be a fight to Sunday but I'd rather be a Sox fan than a Yanks fan right now.  Technically the Yanks aren't even in the dance yet.
 
Frankly I would much rather play Anaheim than Cleveland right.  So somehow I hope that all works out.  Sabathia and Carmona are filthy!
