Houston Astros vs. Boston Red Sox Keuchel vs. Price 7:10PM EST Start
Pick: Over 8.5 (-110)
Price: 4-1, 6.75ERA, 1.38WHIP, 53SO. He is tied for 6th on average run support per start at 6.57. Last 2 starts, he played the Yanks twice and was tagged for 6ER each start. His home ERA is 8.34, giving up 21ER through 22.2IP. LH don’t touch him, they bat just .179 off him, but RH hitters tag him for .299. Using yesterday’s lineup for the Astros, Rasmus and Valbuena were the only LH in the lineup. (I don’t expect much to change, but they did play 16 last night so we’ll see.) He’s also a fly ball pitcher, and the wind is expected to blow out towards the Green Monster for tonight’s game.
Keuchel: 2-4, 4.70ERA, 1.52WHIP, 38SO. His road ERA is 5.84 and people hit him for .292 on the road. LH and RH hitters hit him about the same this year, around the .270-.280 range. Not the same case as last year for sure (at least early on). Last year, LH hitters got him for .177avg and RH .227. So he’s still struggling to find his own in 2016. He will be expected to deliver the goods on Thursday, as Houston went 16 innings last night at home. Most of their bullpen was used up so they hope he’ll at least go 7 to put less stress on the group.
On offense, you can’t argue the Red Sox…simply destroying it. Last 7 games they’ve scored 61 runs while hitting a combined .333. Their L3 games they’ve scored 40…I repeat, 40! Runs off of Oakland.
In what would’ve been a Cy Young Ace Showdown in 2015, tonight we’re dealing with two great pitchers who haven’t found it yet in 2016. Will they find it tonight…maybe.
But I’m going to go with what we have right in front of us: a hot hitting Red Sox home team that’s clicking on all cylinders vs. a tired Astros squad with no bullpen. Wind’s blowing out, both teams rank top 10 in HRs, the pick is in for me.

I tailed you on the over 8. Interesting that Boston was not supposed to hit LHP well, yet they just crushed the last two lefties in a row. Granted, the quality of the lefties is in question. Keuchel seems to be having control issues, hope the Boston bats are patient. Same with the Stros, let Price make all the mistakes and punish him for it. No need to chase.
