Tillman has been impressive so far and Moore does not look like he will
ever be the dominant pitcher the Rays had in mind when they drafted him and
patiently waited for him to get over his Tommy John Surgery. He got in 12 starts last year, was relatively
unimpressive, and is not off to an impressive start this year, with a 2-2
quality start record but all scores pretty close to my projections for him.
The Orioles are a bad matchup as they have seen 3 lefties so far and
beaten 2 of them, D. Price and Martin Perez, while losing only to Coles Hamels.
They hit all 3 very well though and have established an oera of 5.51 versus the
league average of 3.87.
Moore has a current ranking of 60.9 and the 3 have faced have an average
ranking today of 66.2, so there is no good reason they should not hit and
score.
Not only is Tillman doing well so far but the Rays are struggling with
right handed pitching , are just 6-8 so far and have established a 2.81 oera.
No contest, false favorite.

For what reason do you think the rays are favorite here?
Home team on a little roll and many bettors still perceive Matt Moore as an up and coming star. The betting public respects both a little too much, and although Matt Moore may pass as a fan favorite bettors will always overvalue home field. The bookies know it, they build it into the line.

TB and Moore are favored because his heater was overwhelming the white sox in his last home outing. he is rounding into form imo so i'd say tread lightly here but gl

That was not his last start. His last was versus the Yankees. The Yankees have a 34.6 rating and 2.98 oera versus lefty. The O's have a 34.7 rating and 5.51 oera versus lefty. He did get 5 K's in 6.2 innings (5.40 era), but gave up 4 earned runs on 8 hits with a whip of 1.50, so there is some question about being "overwhelming". BTW: The Rays won the game you are talking about, 3-2 versus Quintana, a lefty, and that is a better matchup for the Rays than the righty Tillman.

I said it was his last home start, which it was. i was well aware of his last start against ny.

he was overwhelming in his start against the sox. they couldn't handle his fastball and i think he'll have the same success against balt at home tonight.

I believe I stated I don't care as much about H/A as I do about last start and overall performance, and the reasons why pitching to the O's is a bit more difficult than either the Sox or Yanks. If we didn't understand each other OK, failure to communicate. No harm, no foul, neither of is playing tonight.
