Many reasons to take the dog at +180. I see the value but but the main two reasons I see so many people taking the dog today is 1.) gallardo has been 3-0 life time against the jays and 2.) price has been terrible in the playoffs but let's look deeper, as I am taking the Jays -1 today.
Gallardo is 2-0 against the season:
Gallardo won 4-0 vs Jays on June 27 but that was pre all star break when the jays weren't the jays just yet. Did I mention the Jays trotted out Matt Boyd in his first career start. Boyd's ERA is In the 7's and is 1-6.
Not impressed with Galla's start in this game.
August 27 gallardo was at home and won 4-1 but only pitched 5 innings with only 2 strike outs and 3 walks. Jays Bullpen gave up 3 runs in the 7th inning to blow the game. Again I'm not blown away by his performance at home.
As for Price being terrible in the playoffs:
Dating back since 2008 Price started his playoff career against the Redsox and the Phillies in the World season with blazing stats, posting a sub 1 era but then as we progress into 2010-2013 he averaged a 4.3 era against one of the strongest teams in the Red Sox and primarily struggling (0--3) against the lethal Texas Rangers team filled with sluggers such as Kinsler, Cruz, Guerrero and Hamilton. Truthfully I'd rather not go back that far in his career, so lets look at Price last year in the playoffs vs the o's. In that game he faced the best HR hitting team in the majors posting a 2 era in 8 innings but had no run support losing 2-1 vs o's. I would call that a great playoff performance.
As you can see, when in the playoffs, Price was constantly facing teams with all-star sluggers all while gaining no run support as a former Ray. As for Gallardo in the playoffs - He has not pitched in the playoffs since 2011. His last start being in 2011, against the Cardinals giving up 4 runs and being pulled out in the 5th inning. So his playoff experience doesn't even come close to price's playoff experience.
One more important aspect I like to use when it comes to taking the Blue Jays is seeing how both Pitchers have fared out as of late. I normally like to back the pitcher who has been hot in the month of September.
In September: price is 5-0 with a 2.32 era In September: gallardo is 2-2 with a 4.85 era including giving up 4+ runs to awful teams like Oakland and San Diego. Maybe it's just me but his arm could be worn down throughout the end of the year.
Gallardo doesn't have the composure or the control to able to over come being on the road in a hostile environment. Pitching is everything in the playoffs, and in this case give me Price at home.

Sorry for all the errors. I wrote this from my phone. BOL to everyone
Errors happen.....even in baseball. I believe you made some valid points but I can't back Price and his losing ways in the playoffs. It would be an error on my part.

Awful call fellas. Congrats to those that followed the trends. Price looks nervous out there on the mound. Walking Odor, (8th hitter) twice! Now I need the Jays offense to come through, but it's looking dim. BOL the rest of the game to all of you.
