MLB Daily Picks April 2nd, 2014
Strangely enough, the value today is not in the medium underdogs, but the small favorites laying a very minute amount of juice. The Red Sox, Cardinals, and Brewers should really be a lot bigger favorites than shown here.
Red Sox ML (-113) 226$ to win 200$
Cardinals ML(-110) 220$ to win 200$
Giants ML (+105) 200$ to win 210$

Padres ML(-105) 105$ to win 100$
Analysis
The defending champs will be looking to rebound after a disappointing opening day loss. They will have Lackey on the hill who has enjoyed a lot nice success against the Orioles in his career with a 13-5 record. However, I like the Red Sox to get to Jimenez as their batters are .362 against him in limited at-bats. This Boston lineup rocked him for 7 earned in 1.2 innings last year, and Jimenez has always been notoriously slow starter. Good spot of the Red Sox to rebound.
Getting to back Wacha at this amazing price is just something I just can't pass up. He proved he was an ace at the tail of last season and the playoffs, and he has dominated all spring. The Reds were clueless against him last season failing to score in his 10 innings pitched against the Reds. Cingrani has had some solid moments for the Reds, but no where in Wacha's calibur. Cingrani beat the Cards twice last year, but he did concede some offense to them and that will not work with Wacha opposing him.
The Giants being underdogs today is absolute mystery as Cahill continues be the money making fading material all sports bettors should take advantage of going forward. First, Hudson has totally owned the Diamondbacks in his career with a 7-1 record and a 2.18 ERA. Hudson appears to be healthy from the devastating ankle injury last year. Cahill got rocked in his season debut against the Dodgers, and his stuff has yet dazzle anyone since camp started this year. Also, most the main Giants hitters have had some good success against Cahill in the their careers.
Garza really hasn't had the greatest spring, but he has been known to flip the switch pretty good in his career. He has usually been at his best in home/day starts and that is the spot he finds himself in today. Harang is good fade pitcher that was fortunate enough to find a spot the Braves rotation with all their injuries. The Brewers power hitters in Braun and Ramirez have enjoyed nice success taking Harang yard, and in general Harang is a gopher ball machine. The trends also favor the Brew Crew rebounding in the rubber game at home.
Haren is another one those fade pitchers that continues to among the worst in profitability for baseball bettors. His numbers against Padres and Petco are far from impressive, and he is definately not in top form after breaking camp. Ross hasn't been a big winner in the majors, but his impressive numbers at Petco cannot be ignored. This guy is sporting an excellent 2.03 ERA at Petco and opponents are only batting .187 against him there. The Padres have already shown they are not intimidated by the talent of Dodgers and they have played them tough in the first two games.
