yeah its a freak ice rain storm coming thru pittsburg, some weird weather. Game may get cancelled and all wagers will be refunded since they didn&#x27;t even go 5 innings.

Has to go through 5.So if Pirates got the lead after top of the 5th it could be called.

ML&#x27;s have to get through 5 innings (or 4.5 if the home team is winning). Totals and RL&#x27;s have to get through 9/8.5.

Rules for the sportsbook I play. Yours might be different

Major League Baseball games are official after 5 innings of play, or 4½ innings if the home team is leading. If a game is subsequently called or suspended, the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning unless the home team ties the score or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning in which the game was suspended. In that case the winner will be determined by the score at the time the game is called. (This rule holds for betting purposes even if the game is suspended and /or completed on a different day than it began).

When wagering on total runs or run lines, the game must go the regulation 9 innings, or 8½ innings if the home team is leading, otherwise it will constitute a ‘no-action’ wager, and all money will be credited accordingly.

I&#x27;ve always thought it&#x27;s stupid that totals don&#x27;t count unless they play the entire game.  I can see why an under might not be legitimate because they didn&#x27;t play the whole game but if I bet on an over that cashes by the 5th or 6 inning, why should I get my bet cancelled because they didn&#x27;t play the whole game?

Here is what you to know about this rain delay...specifically in PIT.

This is not about MLB rules...It's about MLB business. (trust me, I worked consultant to books for many years)....

PIT des not have great attendance... (These day games draw more then usual though.)

When you have to PPD a game that doesn't go 5 inns...It becomes an accounting and logistical disaster for team front offices. The Pirates have to re-issue tickets to fans for the make-up game (and customer svc. gets hammered with calls and complaints even though the policies are clearly stated on the tickets.) Yu also have to bring in game day staff for another day that is not scheduled (nt to mention security, police, etc..)

Then, to make matters worse you have to have the Cubs (because they leave PIT today to travel) front office needing to take a players day-off, and have their team fly back to PIT and rebook hotels for their players. And so on....

MLB wants 5 innings hell or high water...after that it's in the umps hands weather to man up and get it in or not.

Only problem would be if CHI had t fly t LA or something tonight and it rained until like 7 or 8pm (And there was a weather window that their airlplane needed to get out of the PIT area to go west.) Today that is not the case, the Cubs have a game tomm in Cinncy (but that is not far from PIT)
