Went 0-1 with Pittsburgh yesterday. I'm going right back to that well again today.

Wandy Rodriguez has had one bad outing. Gio Gonzalez has had several. The Nats have won 3 out of their last 4, and Gio has good numbers against the Pirates (all at home), but despite that the Nats are weaker against LHP than the Pirates are, and the bullpen favors Pittsburgh. Magic Wandy only threw 88 pitches in his last game so he should have plenty of bullets left to fire at the Nats today.

Check this out. In every game that Kevin Slowey has pitched in so far this season (six total), the final score was 7 total runs or less. Usually much less. These same two pitchers squared off earlier this season and it was a 2-1 game. I don't see much that's changed in either team that suggests this game will be much different.

I know Toronto is bad, but Joe Saunders on the road is worse. Seattle has lost every road game he's started so far. That said, he's had an extra day of rest and I think he'll be pretty solid today. I just think Brandon Morrow will be better. Morrow still has good zip on his fastball and he's still fooling hitters, striking out 26 in 32.1 innings. When you see a bad team with a ML juiced like this, it's normally for a reason. This is one of those rare times that I'll try going against the trend. The under 8.5 is also worth a look.

Here's why ERA can be such a misleading stat. My man Straily is sporting an ERA of 6.35 facing the mighty Yankees, who just won on Saturday. John Q Public is going to stop reading there, plunk down some money on the Yanks, and wonder wtf is wrong with the Yankees after the A's beat them. Straily has a WHIP of 1.15 and has struck out 17 batters while walking ONE. This means he's had excellent control so far, so his ERA is likely the product of some bad luck. The A's hit lefties well, they beat the last LHP the Yankees threw at them (Sabathia), and the Yankee bats are still nothing special.

I'm just riding the hot team nobody is talking about. Over the last week of baseball the Tribe is killing it, leading the majors with runs scored. Do you think a guy that walks as many hitters as he Ks, and has given up at least 4 earned runs in 4 games straight is going to cool them off?

Take away the 6-run inning Arizona had against god-awful Clayton Richards and they were pretty average for the rest of the game last night in San Diego. Edinson Volquez was money at home last season, he was money at home in his latest outing, I think he'll be money again here.

Good luck!
