What do you think about the team total?

I think 5 runs is asking alot, unless a they get a few homers, which I guess is probable in this park with the wind and a L SP.

thank you for the link silly, here is the link to a thread that has been started about this

http://www.covers.com/postingforum/post01/showmessage.aspx?spt=17&sub=101440726

everyone that hates the ads should comment here or start a thread about it. it really is a travesty that they have resorted to ads twice as big as any post in every single thread.

Throw out all the stats. This is strictly about A's and them being at home. Wouldn't bet against them no matter

Silly I like the play. Any concern as to Max's right ankle and shoulder issues?

I'm confident that the training staff gave him the necessary rest and workout regiment to get him back into peak form for this game.  Besides, the prospect of an elimination game might be all the adrenaline his body needs to push through the ailments.

9:30 EST - Detroit Tigers (-105)

I don't have a lot of time for a write-up so I'll keep this as simple as I can.  The Tigers have an elite offense against right-handers and they've already faced Griffin once this year (tagging him for 5 earned runs on 8 hits) so the unfamiliarity factor that has benefited him and the rest of the A's rookie staff is not in their favor.  Oakland's power hitting has been a big surprise in the second half of the season, but this power comes at the sacrifice of a high strike out rate (#28th in the MLB).  Scherzer is on a short list of the best strikeout pitchers in Baseball and with Oakland's huge park keeping his fly-balls in play I expect a dominant performance from Mad Max.  My model has this game lined at Detroit -147 with a 59.5% chance to come away with a victory.  At the current price the Tigers only need to win 51.2% of the time to make a profit.  Hell-of-a-deal if you ask me.

I like the -1 but not the under.  Baltimore's bats aren't afraid of anybody at this point and Kuroda has declined a bit in the second half.  I think 8.5 is pretty fair.

I see a lot of Tiger love...if anyone doesn't know yet the A's are a team of destiny and will come back  to win the next two and most likely the World Series!

I think this mentality is part of the reason this spread is so accessibly low for Tigers backers.  A lot of people want to believe.  I don't mess around with this garbage.. it's all numbers to me and the Tigers have a 60% chance to win this game.

Geez guys what do you expect?  Its an excellent user friendly site that allows us to talk to a huge base of cappers from our living room FOR FREE.  I think Covers is a phenomenal site and would probably even pay to use it.  Thanks for the picks silly

And why not let covers make a little money?  The guys have been at this for 15 years.  They deserve to make a check.  Is it really that hard to scroll past on your ipad?  Not for me

The A's swept the NYY. I loved Max until he had a blister and shoulder fatigue. I said that a little problem can turn into a big problem and I believe I was right. He is a power pitcher and all it takes for a pitcher to lose it is a slight change in the delivery. I think the Tigers are a good team, but Max wont pitch at the level he did at the break. The A's pen is the best in MLB, IMO and they are awesome at home
