sorry braves backers. but your golden boy remains a rookie. I really dont care about his gaudy trends beating the mets & the astros & the padres. Cards are #4 in batting average .271 this season.

its a sign of things to come that last time medlen faced the cards, he lit up like a gas can.

its not even that i expect him to pitch bad. He will just give up enough to lose. Them braves bats have not been the best in the majors. 20 teams hit better then them this season.

squares will look at the line & say, its so big, that means vegas must really think they will win, otherwise the cards wouldnt get more then +125.

but in the end, squares are still betting on a rook.

Cards.

I haven't seen anyone who has started threads and been wrong more than you. I have no intention on betting on this game, but should bet on the Braves just for the reason stated above.

Braves will crush the Cards!! With Medlens momentum, Chipper, and a little payback for last year's collapse. I am taking the -1.5 lines. Go Braves!!

Hitting means nothing in baseball - it's all about pitching.  Both Pitchers are great, however, Atl wins it on the run line.

Playoffs are about Pitching and Defense, not hitting.  Capping a game based upon a "feeling " that a pitcher will choke is not capping a game,  when you say you feel a pitcher will choke, this is called "guessing" or if you are psychic then it is a premonition.    You may win  your bet, but it will not be because of handicapping, it will be because you guessed correctly. My play is on Atlanta.  Good Luck.

Being a rookie isn't such a bad thing in the playoffs. These stats only go up to 2000, because that's the only article I found, but off the top of my head I can recall a few other examples.
- Rookie starters are 28-10 with a 3.77 ERA in 59 postseason games since 1977.
Teams using a rookie starter in the World Series have won the championship 10 of 13 times since '77.
Matt Moore, David Price, Adam Wainwright & Cole Hamels are all guys who excelled in their 1st playoff experience over the past few years, although Hamels was a 2nd year guy. Basically if you believe Medlen will be a good/great pitcher for years to come you should believe he has a good chance to be very effective today, but if you believe he's a flash in the pan or mediocre then maybe he'll choke.

By the way he had 175 IP before this season & will be 27 on Sunday so not exactly a babe in the woods.

Followed Kyle when he was a Twinkie.  He was not a no. 1 back then.  He blossomed last year and this year but he is still not a no. One.  I think Atlanta gets revenge for last year, after all St. L. had their miracle run last year.  Cards can hit, that is what can do it for them, but I will stick with Braves.

Well, it wasn't Medlen who choked, but the rest of his team did.
