Saunders has 9.38 ERA in six games in Arlington, probably including his Angel years. Rangers might be big fat fav of -180/-200 in this game.

Saunders can be a wild card, he was the only Angel starter to beat Yankees in NY in that ALCS, as i could remember.

Saunders seems like the dumbest thing showalter could do, dumb like a fox.  I am taking the O's this game.

Have a feeling hammel will be warming up after the first pitch though, and ready to come in if showalter's idea does not work.  I just cannot believe he would do anything he doesn't know has a good chance of beating the odds, when he has beat the odds all season, to get here.  Just got to trust his coaching instincts.

It's do or die game, O's have their season on the line. Showalter will have his best option available as soon as he needs it. Should be a good game.

I went to high school with joe saunders!

he was a couple years ahead of me, he was dating my brothers friends older sister, she was hottest girl in the school hands down

so pysched he is getting the start......

DARVISH CAN GET KNOCKED AROUND IN EARLY INNINGS, AS CAN SAUNDERS.

SHOULD BE A GOOD GAME,

ORIOLES +.5 (FIRST FIVE INNINGS) SOUNDS GOOD TO ME

Colonel Saunders will pitch until he finds trouble...Steve Johnson will be next..Hammell will go Sunday if they get there...He threw 73 pitches in a simulated game last Sunday....

Baltimore played HORRIBLE last night. Texas will rock them tomorrow night. Baltimore IMO is in a slump. Their bats are not working.

The O's are kind of backed into a corner here with this decision. Saunders isn't anybodies first choice but I'd trust his experience over Johnson's 4 career starts. I just think this is the end of the road for the O's.

But I've been wrong before...

No doubt they will compete...but I'm sure they really wish they could throw Gonzalez out there. He hasn't been just the best you've had...he's been one of the best around since starting.

But as much as I've been proven wrong...I'll still be rooting for you guys because I much rather face the Orioles than the Rangers.

And Texas is playing great baseball...

Oh wait, they just got swept and choked away the division and now have to play the do-or-die WC game.  The Rangers looked scared of screwing up that entire Oakland series, I don't see that changing tomorrow.

I wonder why Showalter wouldn't go with Tillman, Chen, Hammel, or any other Orioles starting pitcher.  It's not like the Rangers' lineup is lefty heavy besides Hamilton.
