Anyone like to offer their post season picks? I am all ears.
Here are mine.
If the A's win tonight, they don't have to play the O's. I think both the A's and O's make a run deep, playing each other for the AL penant, unless of course they wind up playing each other in the AL wild card.
On the NL side of things, I see the Nats and the Braves playing each other in their bracket, and the Nats and the Giants playing for the NL penant.
Further in, I see the Nats and the O's playing for the world series. I think the series between the Nats and the Giants goes 7.
And I'll take the Nats to win it all.
I said the Nats would win it all back in April, and have futures on this. And even though I am biased to that end, I still see them playing in the WS. I think Showalter has the O's mind sets believing and playing like they know they can win this thing. They have handled the east just fine, and will beat the yanks , I have no doubt. In fact, that might be my biggest play when it comes, because I am sure the NY public will be loving their yanks.
I like my matchups, just not so sold who wins it all.
Some back up info. I think the team with the bull pen that performs the best will win it. The deeper the arms the better, with a great closer. Not all teams have more than just a front line 7, 8 and 9 innings guy. i.e. the yanks will fail because of this. Pitching beats hitting, this time of year. Every pitch will be focused, and there WILL BE LESS MISTAKES that the big hitters can take advantage of. The umps will also call tighter games, everything gets turned up a notch, favor there to pitching. You can argue this, but I think when the pressure is really on, and it is always on in the playoffs, it is easier to make a good pitch than to hit in that situation. And managers will be pulling pitchers earlier, to make sure the games stay close. All managers just want to get to 7, 8, and 9 within one run if possible. Especially those with great pens. That is the formula for winning post season. And, oh yeh, what is that stat this year for winning one run games, the O's have it.
I think most of these games will be close and decided in innings 7 8 and 9, especially the last two games of a series.
Of course it always helps to have an ace go 2X against a team, even 3 in a series. But I just don't see that as big factor a factor this year as in the past. The big names have not dominated as in past years.
Interested in everyone's picks for NL, AL and WS.
best of fortunes.
