#5 Posted: 9/8/2012 10:43:32 PM Wow so that cost me my bet over over 4.5?
That is a weak effort really for a guy who is being paid to make the big calls. |

#8 Posted: 9/8/2012 10:57:19 PM There is no excuse for it.I had nothing on the game but officials should be fined and then soon lose their jobs for these kinda of blown calls.
No excuse. |

#10 Posted: 9/9/2012 11:34:35 AM And what about 2 blown calls earlier in the year which went against the O's and caused them to lose those games to the Yankees??
It was a bad call but the Yankees have been pampered and have had the umps on their payroll, figuratively speaking, for quite some time.
This somewhat evens out the blown calls from earlier in the year that went against the Orioles but that still cost the O's 2 games while this is just 1 game.

They are fined. Everything is done behind closed doors and is never released to the public.

#16 Posted: 9/10/2012 12:51:37 AM sorry tayzak. but the call will not cost the yankees the division. If they lose the division, or worse miss the playoffs, it will be based on all sorts off oddities over the course of various games throughout the season.
as another poster pointed out, the yanks got some calls to go their way some games.
referees & their lack of perfection is part of the game they play on the field, & part of the game we play putting money on them.

blown calls are gonna happen...
the thing here is, as clear as the replays show teixera was safe, IMO it would have been even more obvious (and chances are the correct call would have been made) if he'd simply run all-out through the bag instead of making that retarded headfirst slide...
not sure if tests have actually been done to prove the hypothesis, not a physics major, but ive heard the comment made several times on various telecasts that runners, by breaking stride and diving headfirst thinking they'll get there faster, actually lose fractions of a second attempting that slide into the bag...
for the life of me i don't understand why guys aren't smart enough to just run all out all the way

tex reinjured his calf injury while running to first, therefore he slid to first, he probably would have tripped if he kept running |
