#2 Posted: 8/22/2012 10:57:13 PM it's justified.. the jays already have a extra depleted lineup and lost another player tonight. Rasmus is slumping terribly, this is a one man team right now with encarnacion.

#4 Posted: 8/22/2012 10:59:46 PM Personally, I don't care how lopsided a matchup is in every way. There's just no way you could ever convince me that laying that kind of chalk on a team is even remotely a wise decision. But that's just MY opinion.
Here's the thing, though. What if Verlander goes out and gets hurt after 2 batters? Not likely, I know. So then what if Happ has another decent start and it's 2-1 Detroit after 7 innings and Verlander gets pulled. Then you have to hope that the bullpen can hold down the fort.
My point is that it's easy to forget that you're not just betting on a starting pitcher.
Yes...the odds are highly likely that the Tigers win...that's why the line is so gosh darn high. But if it were as easy as picking the best team on paper, we ALL would gladly lay that dough to pick up some extra cash.

ya I noticed other books have it better but sportsinteraction opened up at that price which really is ridiculous, and great points weebs.... if happ pitches good all jays need is even a walk, hit, and 3 run shot from Encarnacion which certainly cap happen

#6 Posted: 8/22/2012 11:19:38 PM The last few weeks Jays have been getting 2 hits against pretty average pitchers. Honestly, if Verlander is on his game, this could be a no hitter.

#12 Posted: 8/22/2012 11:30:18 PM Honestly I'm more comfortable taking the Cardinal's RL instead of the Detroit RL. Happ has pitched pretty well lately and Detroit is an average lineup vs. LHP. Do you want to be praying for a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th to put the Tigers up 3-1?
Conversely Keuchel is horrible, playing for a horrible team. And the Cardinals do very well vs. LHP as it is. Even if Westbrook allows 2-3 runs it won't matter if the Cardinals have 8. At least that's how it plays out in my head

#15 Posted: 8/23/2012 12:05:34 AM Would be amazing to see a no hitter tomorrow, I've never been at a game before when it happened, last time JV faced the Jays he did get one and that was when they had a good lineup in Toronto so it's definitely possible

As you already know, games that look too easy, are in fact, too hard. Yes, the Tigers have a higher chances of winning. But, in gambling everything is 50/50, mate. You would know this.

Orioles were +240 against Verlander last week. And they led 3-1 in the 6th. Yes they lost but they could have so easily won (I had 10 bucks on them!)
The point being, in ANY baseball game at this level a pitcher has the potential to throw a gem. Or for Verlander to have one bad innings, or even a good innings where a flukey grand slam gets hit.
I'll have $10 on the Jays tomorrow. They either win or lose by a stack. Pinnacle does -2.5 RL; that is the only other option on this game.... |

Traps don't exist. Only those who do not understand perception believe in them.

Traps exist to gamblers that don't have enough information or insight to properly cap a game. We both know this is a significant portion of the gambling public. If it feels like a trap to them and they don't know why, it's probably still a good thing if they lay off the game.
