RECORD: 14-12-1 (54%)
MONEY: -0.46

SIDES: 14-9 (61%) +3.09
TOTALS: 0-3-1 -3.55
note: total record includes team totals

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

BRAVES -104
Atlanta is playing well and in the hunt to catch the Nationals. I give the nod to the Braves' Kris Medlin against Johan Santana, but the reality is that neither starter is likely to go much past 5 or 6 innings. With that in mind, Atlanta has the huge edge in the bullpen . . . among the best in the majors against the Mets, who are last in bullpen ERA.

TIGERS -143
It is a battle of two of the best offenses in baseball, but the glaring difference here is the pitching. Verlander's won-loss record really does not reflect that he is as statistically dominant as he as ever been, including 2011. We have to respect Texas at home, but Holland has been a mess for a while. Verlander, coming off a 14-k performance against the Yankees can stop the Rangers. I doubt that Holland can match this against the Tigers.

RED SOX -137

Morales was a former Rockie, so I know him well. He is a tough lefty and he is effective against both lefties and righties. For what it is worth, Morales has been a beast on the road this season.

What a disappointment for Red Sox Nation this year. Any hopes to make a run will be dashed if Boston does not start soon.

YANKEES, BLUE JAYS OVER 9.5 -110
I am struggling with the totals this year, which has previously been a good area for me. Nova on the mound, and he's been pounded in his last two starts. For the year, he has also been susceptible to surrendering the long ball. The real reason for playing this is that my selective memory recalls Nova being unable to work out of jams against the Blue Jays. All of this is refuted by the numbers, which shows Nova as a good starter on the road.

LEAN ATHLETICS (LINE PENDING)

GOOD LUCK EVERYBODY

FRIDAY RECAP

KEES -131
Normally, I am looking to play Ricky Romero at home, but this is a different year for him, with his BB/9 ratio on pace to be the worst of his career. And putting men on base is a recipe for disaster against this lineup.

ASTROS +105
It has been a tale of two seasons for Bud Norris. The Astros won in 8 of his first 9 starts . . . making Bud look like Chuck. Since then the lowly 'Stros have lost his next 11. Wow.

NATIONALS -122
I'm a bit nervous here with the short line, but with SS on the mound backed by the capable Nationals offense,

MARINERS +105
These M's aren't that bad, so the line for King Felix looks tempting here.

Mariners up 5-0 and King Felix can't hold the lead - what a shame.

SF GIANTS TEAM TOTAL OVER 4.0 -125

I have been playing against Chatwood as soon as I realized that this kid does not seem to be able to find the strike zone. With the game total set at 7, I am guessing that the Giants total has to be set at 4. I play all of my games at 1 unit, but this would otherwise be a play of the day type pick.

The game is still going, but this one looks done.
