All last year in MLB, it was too often I’d do well for a couple of days, then tank on the 3rd day. Strangely enough it was just about every Saturday that my bankroll would shit the bed. This year I’m gonna counteract that with an opposite day every 3rd day. Every pick I like, I’m going the opposite. So here goes.
O’s vs. Bosox- Hammel is having a career year, and the birds have bats. Aaron Cook is likely making his only start of the year, and will be going to the bullpen after this disaster. Meanwhile, the Bosox are on a 3 game skid and will have a much better chance to win the game tomorrow with Buchholz on the mound. My pick: Bosox -115.
Bosox ML -115 1.15 / 1
Zona vs. Mets- Who is this Corbin kid anyway? He’s a Double-A pitcher at this point, not a big leaguer. 22 years old. Escaped his first start, but playing in New York isn’t easy no matter what park it’s in. Santana meanwhile, has given up one earned run in the last 12 IP. Makes perfect sense for me to take Zona today. My pick: Zona +135.
Zona ML +135 1 / 1.35
Cards vs. ‘Stros- Garcia has pitched extremely well over his last 3 starts, and there is always potential for these Cards bats to go apeshit. They are the second best hitting team in baseball over the past 7 days. No way do they lose their 3rd straight to this Astros team (against Bud Norris, of all people). I’ll take Houston, but I’m not completely suicidal with my money. My pick: ‘Stros RL +1.5 -130
Brewers vs. Giants- Brewers bats are hitting .233 against Bumgarner, but the most important ones: Braun (.400), A. Gonz (.500), Hart (.273), and R. Weeks (.364) have hit him. Randy Wolf has gotten better with every start, and let’s face it…who on that Giants team can hit right now? They are next to last in hitting over the last 7 days. So how can the Giants possibly be -153? My pick: Giants -153.
Parlay- Giants -153 /
‘Stros RL -130 .52 / 1.0013
Reds vs. Pirates- Mike Leake has not pitched well, but he’s capable of winning this one. The Reds have some ferocious hitters in their lineup. I just can’t see them doing worse than winning 2/3 in this series. McDonald has been pitching well, but these Reds hitters have done well off of him. Jay Bruce has hit .400, Brandon Phillips .462, and Ryan Ludwick .333. Joey Votto has hit .250 in 16 AB, but…he’s Joey Votto. My pick: Gotta take the Pirates at -109. Damnit.
Pirates ML -109 .8175 / .75
And since I’ve completely lost my mind:
Pirates RL -1.5
+185 .25 / .4625
So with all these picks I truly don’t like, I might find one I actually DO like today. If so, I’ll post it.
BOL to all today!
