Why exactly are you only bashing the Yankees fans when there are Jays and Red Sox fans being vocal on this matter as well? |

2nd point there was an executive in MLB who once said it'd be better for the sport if the Yankees won every year. Look they get to the playoffs usually every year but have won twice since 2000. Money can get you TO the playoffs but it DOESN'T guarantee a title. See Cubs and Mets. You get in the playoffs its a new ballgame. See Bos 04 STL last year. SF in 2010 ETC |

And this is exactly my point. You said earlier in this thread that you hope Nova gets back to 2011 form. Well that was a very lucky year for Nova. His peripherals eluded to that he was getting extremely lucky and pitching worse than his results.
Nova doesnt strike out many batters, doesn't have a good GB%, has a high LOB%, low K/BB, and his BABIP is somewhat high. He also did not have tremendous success in the minors that would predict sustained success in the majors.
Yet he has managed to outpitch those red flags. Point being that eventually his faults would catch up to him and will start to perform to his skill level. So far this year he is pitching to his skill level based on his peripherals and past data.
Matusz on the other hand has pitched much better than the results. His peripherals indicate this and it shows Matusz has been somewhat a victim of bad luck. Every peripheral shows that Matusz has pitched better than the results. So over time it should normalize and Matusz will eventually start showing results that fit his skill set.

Wait you mean when Andy took over and I said in 3 years they would start to be competitive. Or how I said they would lose 100 games in 2009.
Well this is year 4. So I was right around the time frame. Any other history you want to inaccurately depict?

Yup.
Can't really argue with him this time, though. Either you get on the bandwagon because they're winning or you know nothing because you "haven't watched them play". Those seem like the only 2 options we are given here. |

As a Jays fan that is hard to admit. Will be interesting to see these two rising teams battle. |

#170 Posted: 5/18/2012 11:56:40 PM It has been a long time coming... Being an Orioles fan has taken a toll on my MLB morale over the last few years but its fun to see them winning for once. Have to admit I am still very skeptical that they can continue to win and obviously so is Vegas making them dogs 34 out of their 38 games.

#171 Posted: 5/19/2012 12:56:03 AM hey jepero, do you think the O's can win the division..... i'm probably gonna put about 20 bucks on them at 20 to 1 odds for just the heck of it. I did that this hockey season on the Florida panthers to win their division who were big dogs at 21-1 odds and it paid off(first time ever they won there division), just figure at those odds you can't go wrong

#172 Posted: 5/19/2012 1:32:05 AM I dont think the O's win the division. There are other teams with more talent in the division. Rays pitching in the best, Yanks lineup is the best, Jays are a very dangerous team, and the Red Sox seem to be getting forgotten about.
Its going to be a battle of attrition. The Orioles are much better than anyone gave them credit for preseason and I still think no team wins more than 94 games.
90 games might win the division this year.
Orioles Magic.

The whole bullpen has been great. Even freakin Kevin Gregg the past few appearances.
The O's have only lost 2 games all year when scoring 5 runs. Pitching has allowed them to win.
Chen vs. Strasburg will be a great game sunday. I am still debating if I will make the trip. Haven't been to Nationals park yet and what better time than to see Chen vs. Strasburg when both teams are 2 of hte best in their respective leagues, up to this point.
