As much as I wanted him to stay with St. Louis to tell the story of the greatest player of my generation remaining with one team his entire career, I have no ill will nor do I fault Pujols for signing with the Angels. I do not believe the driver of his decision was solely financial, but rather some of the following:
- Option to play DH as he approaches his 40's. How many players in their late 30's are playing 1B regularly?
- Challenge of playing in the AL after his whole career in the NL.. Every year despite little succes lately, the talk is of Boston and New York.
- Wanting to play for a stable and succesful manager. LaRussa leaving didn't help St. Louis, but maybe Tony knew Albert was going to leave
- There is not a MLB today who should make more money than Pujols. He is clearly the best all around player in the game, but beyond that he is a clubhouse and community guy. This goes beyond dollars and cents, it is about being recognized for what you have done for the game.
- He stayed with St. Louis longer than most front line players stay with a team and he brought a ring to the fans. His legacy should not be tarnished with this decision.
If my coworker got offered two times more than what I am making and it was obvious I did better work, you better believe I would leave for another company that offered me three times my current salary. Not because of the money or that I lack loyalty, but the market dictates my worth and who would work for less than they are worth. Nobody should.

It all came down to that the Angels promised to build a statue of him to next to Mickey Mouse at Disneyland. Much better than being a legend at the best baseball town in the world and getting one next to Stan the Man. He can take his shitty overpriced "restaraunt" with him too. I'm glad as a Cards fan we didn't overpay, but Albert saying "God" was gonna choose for him and all that shit was pure BS. Now we have 250 mil for a bat AND A pitcher.

c'mon billyboy, its just a coincidence that god ALWAYS chooses the most money- I thought you knew that
respect him as a player, respect his decision to head to the a.l, have NO RESPECT for those that try to justify selfish moves as coming from the hand of god (you too texiera)
