#1 Posted: 6/28/2011 1:08:10 PM 14-5 run with a 1-1 Monday.
I'm intrigued by the afternoon Game 1 between the Giants and Cubs. Vogelsong has been the ace of the Giants staff to this point. He's having a truly unbelievable season after being a journeyman for much of his career. The Giants are 8-3 when he has taken the hill this season. Doug Davis has been fairly awful this season aside from the Yankees win he chalked up a week or so ago. The clear advantage in the bullpens goes to San Francisco. Run producing is where both teams are a complete question mark---not sure what you're going to get from either side.
While I thought the Chicago Cubs were the play yesterday when facing the Colorado Rockies yesterday morning, I believe laying the chalk with a focused San Francisco Giants team is the call in the early game today. I'm not in love with this play, but I like it enough to take it. I expect the bullpens to get involved and if SF can't score on the Cubs BP, then I deserve to lose this bet.
- San Francisco Giants ML (-121)
Best of luck to everyone today. Hopefully no one's head starts to hurt from an online posting forum.
If you have a great play or great analysis, post it! I've seen some amazing winning streaks in the thread with great analysis to boot.
SJP

Just an FYI- New column will be up tomorrow. Sorry for the delay.

imo, the public definetly isnt on the cubs, san fran is getting the public money, and chicago is getting the sharp money
that being said , i used to let that chase me away from games, but not so much anymore, i try to stick with my first gut instinct and then try and find reasons to play it. well there are alot of reasons to play on SF today, the cubs struggle to win at the best of times and although they are better at home, they have a pitful .256 win % or close to it after a win |

#19 Posted: 6/28/2011 1:56:44 PM Anyone got any thoughts on the BOS/PHI game? I can't quite figure why the Bosox are dogs with Beckett at the plate for them and facing Lee, who has 5 straight losses against them too his name. Is the influence of no DH that great on the game or is this down to Lee's recent form. I'm looking for a reason not to play BOS, because I'm assuming I'm missing something. Any input is appreciated.
Best of luck, as ever!

#21 Posted: 6/28/2011 2:01:05 PM Well said Sarah.
If Giants can score on CHI BP then I deserve to lose.
I can roll with that logic. |

For Boston, their lack of DH impacted them pretty badly against Pittsburgh. Is Crawford back?
Missing Crawford and Ortiz while adding a hitting pitcher to the lineup threw them into a funk this past weekend.

Well, Lee's 3-0 with a 0.35 ERA in his last 3 is pretty good, too. LOL!
