Starting today every play I make in the MLB will be with great reason, so far this year I have been been making plays just to make em. Time to get serious, I'm expecting a big season in the MLB lets get this going today.
Today we have Beckett vs. Tomlin, Beckett is coming off a bad year, and Tomlin is just a sophomore. Becket prefers to throw to lefties and this isn't the best match up for him I guess, since 2 of Cleveland's 3 quality hitters (imo) are left. But this isn't much cause for concern, the Indians lineup overall, is sub par. On the Other Side, Tomlin fared better against lefties, but was not too dominant. Upon first look, it seems like this is a good match up for Tomlin with the Left handed loaded Boston lineup, but - Crawford, Ortiz and Drew (all lefties) Were all significantly better against RHP last season.
The worst average for Bostons 1-5 hitters last year on the road was .294, so they are good hitters away from Fenway.
Overall Hitting Match up Edge: Red Sox
Overall Pitching Match up: Slight Edge Red Sox (Will depend how good Beckett comes out playing after a bad 2010)
With that said, Boston is the much better team so with both matchup edges favoring them, they should win easy. (But key word should; its baseball anyone can beat anyone)
BOSTON RED SOX -1(-120)
I wanted to take the ML but it rose a lot over night, but -1 is okay, since Boston's lineup is loaded compared to Cleveland's.
Working on crunching in some more numbers for each AL team into a spreadsheet, should have it done sometime this week. (Only got these two teams covered)
Was also thinking about Chicago, but I have to go to work for a bit, and don't really have time to make sure its a good play.
