Gotta wait until halfway through Spring Training to really get a handle on these things. A few people are still unsigned and can make teams better. I'll wait for a final result...but as it stand right now...
AL East: Yankees
AL Central: Twins
AL West: Seattle
AL Wild Card: Red Sox
NL East: Phillies (even though they have no bullpen)
NL Central: Cardinals
NL West: Giants
NL Wild Card: Braves
Curious on why you like the Indians? They have nothing going for them right now. Choo and Sizemore are their most proven hitters right now. I know Carlos Santana is supposed to be a stud but I don't think it's his time just yet. Major rotational concerns and bullpen concerns. I really think it's the Twins' to lose. But I can see the Tigers winning if not. I don't think it would be a surprise. I can't see the Chi.Sox making a run. Their offense was awful last season. Juan Pierre can't pick them up that much...can he? Their pitching core is really good though...but can their offense so anything? The weapons are there...but will they actually hit?
And no Phillies at all?

Very original, I know....but this is because these teams haven't changed a bit, no team like the Indians, Dbacks, etc have done anything to make me think my above mentioned are not going to the playoffs in 2010.

Well like I said...I do like their pitching. However...an offense with Mauer, Morneau, Young, Cuddyer, Span and Kubel on offense is pretty good too. And maybe Hardy (nobody knows exactly what he can do) And against righties...this team may not lose. What will the 3-6 or 2-5 part of the lineup look like? Mauer, Kubel, Morneau and Thome? You put Span as the leadoff hitter and the first 5 hitters may be solid hitting lefties. I'm just saying...it's hard to mess with that. Maybe facing a lefty would be more of a strugle (ala Kuble/Thome) but I think they can hold their own most of the year. Especially since most of the AL Central's projected rotations are righties.
White Sox: Buehrle, Danks (who normally shut down anyone)...the rest are righties.
Indians: Laffey, Sowers...the rest are righties.
Royals: All righties.
Tigers: All righties.
I think that offense is fierce. And the Twins' rotation...Baker, Blackburn and Pavano can hold their own most of the year (at least I'm expecting Blackburn to hold his own). Who knows what we'll see from Liriano...but we know he'll get another shot. Duensing was impressive when he had his chances. Then Perkins and/or Slowey would be fighting for the final spot. Maybe some darkhorse like Manship or Swarzak could win the final spot. And their bullpen is good too. So I think they have the best shot.
Just giving you my reasoning. ![]()

In the AL you could probably make a case for the ChiSox, Tampa, Texas and maybe the Angels to win their division or make the playoffs......the NL list may be a bit longer with cases possibly being made for Atlanta, San Francisco, Chicago maybe New York and even Washington (kidding, just seeing if anyone is reading)....

The Giants were in it most of the season last year. Now their lineup is better with a full season of Sanchez and adding Huff and DeRosa to that lineup. It's MUCH better than what they had imo. Yes...their rotation has some questions. We know what Timmy and Cain can do...the questions are with Sanchez (who had a no hitter) but is only 26 and has been imrpoving each season. And whether we want to admit it or not...Zito had a great season. Compared to his first 2 seasons...that 4.03 ERA was OUTSTANDING. I mean...if you just look at his stats from 7/18 to the end of the season...he was pretty incredible. He posted a 2.93 ERA. The Giants were 10-5 in that span. And the unders were 8-4-3. So once he picked it up...he was solid. If that's a sign of what's to come...and a 3.00 ERA will be the 3rd best pitcher on their rotation...who needs an above average lineup?

If they can get to the post-season they would be a very, very tough match-up for anyone with the pitchers they bring to the table. I also agree about Zito.....if (and in my opinion it's a big if) he pitches like he did most of last year they have a real shot. Zito has just been too inconsistent over the years for me to count on him to reproduce last year, or his glory years......that said, he certainly could and then SF has the best staff in baseball.

Oh yea...I forgot Bumgarner came up in September and is now fighting for a spot on the Opening Day roster. If he is as good as advertised...than this may top all teams as the best rotation in baseball.

Especially in a best of 5 series. But after seeing the Cards last season...who really knows anymore. If they happen to get the Phillies in the first round...their offense may not come around and score them runs. I said the Giants offense is better...but still not great. I do agree that they can be deadly in the playoffs though. Basically like the BoSox in 07 with Beckett and Schilling. Down 3-1...you knew those 2 were coming around...end of story.
