Apparently the Yankees live in a good geographical area and dont share revenue from the YES network so the Yankees can sign anyone they want [all of these players] and noone else can sign anyone unless the Yankees ok it. Is baseball great or what?!

Disney owns the Angels they could get anybody they want, twin owner has money he could get whoever he wants, every team could get a couple of superstars but they choose not to cause they don't want it a bad as others no baseball team has less than $300,000,000 and since you don't have to pay the player all at once, not to mention you could put a clause in his contract and even trade him and his contract to another team if his is not producing so all in all everybody has a shot but most a scared to spend a little money and make a big profit

NiC-IcE The difference between some owners and others is greedyness. The Steinbrenners are NOT greedy. They don't pocket the money they get. They dish it out to make their investment even better. If I heard right, and the rumor that the Twins are going to offer Mauer a 5-year $95 million extension is true...than that is an insult. He deserves more than $19 million a season. He's one of the best players in the game. He deserves more than Tex...I know that much. If the Twins' billionaire owner doesn't dish out the proper money to get Mauer...that's just another piece of evidence that shows that "small market teams" simply refuse to dish out the money. And if the Yankees sign Mauer...they'll be considered the "bad guys" because their owner chose to offer more than the Twins' billionaire owner.

The Yankee's took away health benefits from its hourly workers, I bet 1 yr of arods pay would have coverd everyone. He loves to see his name in print ,thats why he spends

Erik Bedard----------Dodgers (Bedard will not pitch in a large market. He does not like the media and is a Zack Greinke type of personality where he would rather be left alone)
Miguel Tejada-------Athletics
Matt Holliday--------Mets (cards will not sign him because then that gives them zero chance at Pujols next season)
Hideki Matsui--------Mariners
Mark DeRosa--------Cardinals
Jose Valverde--------Cubs
Russell Branyan----Mets
Aroldis Chapman---Red Sox
Jermaine Dye--------Giants (stays in the AL so he can DH and save his legs so he doesn't have a 2nd half collapse like this year)
Rich Harden-----------Phillies
Vladimir Guerrero----White Sox
Chone Figgins---------Angels

I dont think that Valverde will go to the Braves......I saw something the other day about making Tommy Hanson the closer.....I cant see them doing it but it was said. Braves have 6 starters now.....
I think that Matt Holiday is going somewhere else....I dont think that he will take a pay cut to stay in STL.

Yea...I don't know why I typed the Cards. I meant the Mets for Holliday. Typo there. But I really had no clue where Valverde would go so I just put the Braves because they weren't signing Gonzalez or Soriano. I say they either get him or Hawkins. If those rumors on Hanson are true, that is a really BAD mistake. If what we saw this season wasn't a fluke, he is going to be their ace.
I have a question for you. What's this I hear about Bay getting a 4 year $60 million contract? Do you think he's worth that much? I know I don't. $15 million a season? I personally don't think so.

Red Sox are in a tough situation as they have got to add more hitting instead of losing it. I am sure the Yanks will help push that price up on Bay....Red Sox have to get either Bay or Holliday.
I read that thing on Hanson on ESPN....He is going to be a stud in the league and I dont think that they will put in the closers role...They have a problem because they have 6 starters now. Kawakami is not tradeable so it looks like the Braves are going to trade Vazquez.......

I personally say they're better off getting Holliday and then trading for a corner infielder like Prince, Gonzo or Miggy Cab. It would totally be worth it. I obviously don't want them to...but it would be smart. Much smarter than going after a starting pitcher. I don't think the Yankees would test those waters. If they make an offer to Bay...or even talk about making an offer. I think that will almost assure the Sox will get Holliday. It would be a nice way to pay them back for the whole Chris Carter situation. Then the Yanks would be screwed in that spot. I know I sound greedy, but I think the Yanks NEED a top of the line starter. Burnett is hot and cold. He NEEDED Molina's defense and now he'll have to rely on Cervelli and I don't know their conection together. But going after Lackey would be a GREAT investment. I would have thought Chapman but I heard he's not worth the risk because odds are pointing more to him being a bust than a stud and that scares me.
And as for the Braves...they could get a nice bat for Vazquez. Not a top bat...but a good one. They could handle a rotation with Jurrjens, Hanson, Lowe, Hudson and Kawakami. I'm sure that's workable.

The Red Sox have been going after Adrian Gonzalez since last year and I think they will continue to go after him. If he can hit like that in Petco just imagine him hitting in Fenway......Opposite field hits off the monster would be his expertise.
The Yanks are going to get another starter this winter.....I dont know who it will be but I just cant see them not attempting to go after Lackey. I dont know if they are going to pay the price tag that will be on him or not but they will at least look into it.
I knew the Braves messed up when they picked up Derek Lowe last year....He pitched well in his contract year and made himself a ridiculous contract. Vazquez was a stud for the Braves last year and he would have been even better if the Braves could have scored some runs for him. The Braves rotation will be sick if they can keep Vazquez.

Ahhh Twins billionaire owner is dead. Carl Pohlad died earlier this year. Now the Twins are owned by a collaboration of his children. In other words, even though his children have now come into some money they have nothing like their father once did. Finally, Pohlad has really opened the pocketbook the past five years or so to make MIN competitive and I will guarantee you that unless Mauer is a greedy POS MIN will make him an extremely competitive offer. I think M&M boys will stay with MIN until they are no longer productive. Just my two cents.

Well rumors are heating up now. The Yankees are apparently "definitely interested" while extension talks with Vazquez are being discussed. I would really love Lackey on the roster. That would be a SOLID addition.
As for Gonzo...I'm sure they'll work something out. And I'm sure it will happen without Buchholz or Bard...somehow.

jerson...I know he died. That was talked about a while back in another thread. The thing is I'm sure he left enough money to his children to run the team. If they aren't willing enough to help out the team...it just adds to my point. More owners than not perfer to pocket their money than dish it out. They're too scared of the risk and don't care about the reward.

There are rumors that Lackey and the Angles have a mutual agreement in place for him to come back.
They are probably just discussing $$. Hopefully they resign him and Figgins and the O's trade for Wood.
Hanson will not be turned into a reliever. He was a top 10 prospect in all of baseball and succeeded as a starter. He will not be mishandled by the Braves and have his progression haltered because of a surplus of SP. The Braves would love to trade Lowe but would have to eat a bunch of his contract in order to get somethign decent back. Kawakami could be traded but he could also be used in the BP as he would be the odd man out if Lowe is nto moved.
Sparky you do realize the Yankees operate in the red. They lose money year in and year out because of their payroll. The only reason they are so profitable is because of YES and the fact that they can charge any price for tickets (no other market can support that) and from all the merchanidse. You really do refuse to see the differences and not want to understand the Yankees are the nly team that can operate that way and no other team can be compared or expected to operate in a similar way.

Where are these "rumors"? I haven't heard that ANYWHERE. The same guy who told you about Tex?
I could care less that the Yankees operate in the red. They raise ticket prices, people still pay for them. Fine...they don't get 55,000 a game...but 48,000 is perfectly fine. YES was a brilliant idea. And they have so many stars that they make jerseys of basically every player. I go to Georgia and unless I'm at a game, I only see Chipper Jones jerseys. The Yankees have Sabathia, Rodriguez, Burnett, Jeter, Posada, Tex, Cabrera, Rivera, Chamberlain, Pettitte, Cano, Damon and Swisher. And that all goes back to spending all that money to get those players in the first place. They have a huge assortment of hats with different designs that "gangsters" wear. I know some guys who wear those hats simply because they "look cool" and these guys are Mets fans. The Yankees' organization are filled with smart people who know what it takes to run a business better than anybody else. And I'm proud to be a fan of this team.

I said the same exact thing about Hanson as I dont think it will happen. But I saw it on ESPN, some guy had a write up on it.....Braves have too much invested in KK and Lowe to trade them and they would lose money on either one of them. Vazquez is there best trade value as he was a stud last year.....If Braves could get rid of Lowe and not get fucked I think they would but they are stuck with him and his ridiculous contract.....Javy is probably out the door.

You really do refuse to see the differences and not want to understand the Yankees are the nly team that can operate that way and no other team can be compared or expected to operate in a similar way.
