The worst part of the World Series is seeing Alex Rodriguez winning a World Series title. There is no reason to hate him, but damn it it's so simple!! He seemed like such the perfect candidate for the following...
- 700+ homeruns, first ballot hall-of-famer, used steroids, still couldn't win a title
Congrats to Jeter, Posada, Rivera, and Petitte. The ONLY Yankees that didn't sell out. Everyone else on this team was BOUGHT. But the big 4 I respect and have no problem with.
Watching this series made me realize why I HATE baseball. Its not a team that can put together a good streak and ride their farm system products. It's an owner and a city that can throw the most amount of money at players. It's just not an exciting sport to watch any more...my suggestion would be to shorten the season down to 100 games. Top 16 teams make the playoffs, seeded by regular season record. AL and NL teams go into the same bracket, and we move down to the eventual champion, all in best-of-5 series

I'm a little disappointed to see the Yankees buy this championship as well. But it's not like Boston doesn't have the money/ resources to compete. It's the smaller market teams (the Royals, Marlins, Twins) that I really feel sorry for. Some of them are managed pretty well, but they will never have a fair playing field against big market teams.
Your suggestion to shorten the regular season and make 16 playoff teams will never happen. It makes no sense for MLB to cut the season down to 100 games (that would just cut overall revenue). Also baseball traditionalists would never let a 16 team playoff happen. I think adding playoff teams is a good idea (maybe not 16 total). However the traditionalists believe they have already compromised enough with a wild card and they would never let this happen.

Aceves, Joba, Coke, Hughes, Marte, Robertson, Cano, Melky, Gardner, along with Jeter, Posada, Mariano and Pettitte came up through the Yankees' farm system.
Swisher was traded for Betemit in the offseason. Hairston was traded for a Double-A catcher I never heard of in the middle of the season. Hinske was traded for I don't even know what. Bruney was aquired back in the Randy Johnson deal. Gaudin was picked up for nothing as well.
This team has the mix of highly paid guys, young players from the far system, and trade pieces that nobody would even thing would have been on the World Series roster as the season started. Sure, A-Rod, Sabathia, Burnett, Tex, Damon and Matsui were paid a lot of money to come to the Yanks and help them win a Championship. The thing is...those players, along with the others mentioned, created a World Series Championship team. Yea...I know Hinske, Gaudin and Bruney didn't do anything but just to be on the roster means something. What I know is Matsui and A-Rod are going to remembered as Yankees. Sabathia, Burnett and Tex are still up in the air but most likely Tex and Sabathia will be Yankee Greats in the future. This team was simply great all year long, and they proved that they are the best in baseball.

He goes to play close to home with his buddy Clemens. Did the Astros even offer him more money? I doubt that.

No Sparky, if this thread is going be started by a Red Sox fan complaining about payroll and steroids I mean come on. Seriously?
Go and find woop...he's pissed that the Yankees are filled with HGH and a high payroll. I do find it funny though when Red Sox fans complain about what the Yankees do. I bet they would have been super pissed if they got Tex this offseason instead of the Yanks.

You guys should watch European soccer! All the teams that win there "buy" their way to a title. I know there isn't much parity in MLB, but as we saw with the Rays last year, even the smaller, well run teams have a shot at winning.... Take a look at the English Premier League in soccer, a team like Fulham has NO SHOT WHATSOEVER of winning ANYTHING year in and year out.
