#1 Posted: 11/3/2009 3:25:34 PM How does Fox not fire him seriously! His commentary is downright terrible. I can remember on a game earlier this year, the hitter grounded out to short and Tim McCarver said "he (the hitter) MEANT TO GET A LOT MORE AIR UNDER THAT ONE"... Tim McCarver makes more verbal errors in one inning then any team does in a whole season! Turn the volume off and listen to the radio-it's bad enough the Yankees are torturing us |

#6 Posted: 11/3/2009 5:51:15 PM Man all the guys listed here are bad.I hate those NESN guys and McCarver and Carey are brutal. Anyone like the Ariz announcers Grace and Sutton.I hear them on the MLB package and they are okay.I of course prefer the Phils announcers. Also don't mind Kuiper and Krukow for the Giants.Just my 2 cents.Too each his own as we all have our own favs. |

#7 Posted: 11/3/2009 6:32:47 PM I can relate to announcers discussions based on their local market teams and putting a slight if not bold twist of favoritism on their home team. It's only natural it's what the fans in the local market want to hear and let's face it that is what they get paid for! Tim McCarver is pretty much bias BUT ABSOLUTELY CLUELESS ABOUT WHAT COMES OUT OF HIS MOUTH EVEN AFTER PLAYING BASEBALL HIS ENTIRE CAREER!! There is even a website somewhere called shut up Tim McCarver (I believe). There were an endless number of downright stupid kindergarten type comments posted on there. I simply would rather hear fingernails against the chalkboard than his ignorance. Another one that comes to mind went something like this "Alex Rodriguez is the only player in major league baseball that can completely cover the 17 inch home plate with his bat." His intention was to basically say that Alex is a good off field hitter I guess, but for God's sake every major leaguers bat has no trouble covering a 17 inch plate! That's nothing compared to some of the others. Just listen you can't miss it! |

#8 Posted: 11/3/2009 6:42:47 PM Regarding your question about McCarver, it all boils down to money. He comes cheap, and also deflects what a god-awful announcer Joe Buck is.
You've got it right. Hit the mute button and turn on the radio. Not only are John Miller and Joe Morgan great to listen to, but you don't have suffer through being bombarded w/ so much advertising - which is another reason why FOX doesn't really care too much about having quality announcer . . . they only need be able to read the copy for all those crap adverts.

See you know so little about baseball you cant understand what he's saying.
Are you really saying that no hitter in MLB is much worse on an inside pitch than outside or vice versa. That some guys have trouble hitting the inside pitch as opposed to outside and low and high and such. Thats what he was saying. He was saying Arods plate coverage is almost unmatched by anyone in baseball but youre too fucking arrogant and ignorant (the worst combo ever to be) that you just shout and scream that hes an idiot when the guy has forgotten more about baseball than you'll ever know.
EVERY MAJOR LEAGUER HAS NO PROBLEM COVERING A 17 INCH PLATE
You said it pal. and you sir, are a fucking moron. Bookies wet dream |

#14 Posted: 11/7/2009 2:58:28 PM oh nevermind it all makes sense now. Youre red sox fan having to watch the Yankees in the playoffs. Of course everything seems terrible to you now that your 5 year window is over and the Sox are on the downturn. Sorry pal. try not to make such foolish comments about baseball though, it really exposes you |

#15 Posted: 11/8/2009 3:31:10 PM Chance... those awful kind words of you but I am being completely impartial when it comes to announcers-I like all sports! As far as me being a f... idiot at least I don't gamble and lose anymore. How can I be any bookmakers wet dream? Always! I've always liked the gumbles... Howard Cosell, Madden etc. call me old-school I guess... and for your criticism thank you humbly |
