#1 Posted: 11/3/2009 3:25:06 PM The Phillies win with Lee on the mound, now the fans won't shut up about how they now have the edge.
Remember...Pettitte is a BIG GAME pitcher and thrives to play in these spots. 19-34 is the stat with pitchers on short rest against pitchers on regular rest? Here's another stat...the Yankees are 2-1 this postseason when they send a pitcher out there on short rest. Everyone but Utley and Werth suck against lefties. 2 guys in the lineup wont help you. Pettitte has pitched into the 7th inning 3 of his 4 starts. And that's ALL the Yankees need in Game 6. Mariano will go in for 2 innings and this World Series will be OVER. |

This game should have been 2-2 going into last night. Two fucking stolen bases off one pitch! Has never happened and won't happen again. Flukiest thing I have ever seen. Fucked up Lidge's mojo.

Were you around after Game 1? Philly Fans had nothing to be pompous about. Now they win another game and it's all coming back to them now. But yes...some may call it a "fluke" but it is what it is. And how do you know the Phillies would have won if the Yankees didn't score? It was a tie game.
And you are right..."shoulda woulda coulda" is always fun to think about.

How can something come back when it never left in the first place?

#8 Posted: 11/3/2009 4:22:16 PM Pettitte even admitted he had nothing in Game 3 and now he is going on short rest...He will have nothing in game 6 and get lit up...I'm rooting for the Yankees in this series, but I can't see this not going to game 7...

And the best pitchers know how to bounce back. This being a huge game...makes Pettitte one of the "best". |

#13 Posted: 11/3/2009 5:20:40 PM Having been to 3 of these WS games already, including 1 in NYC, I can say without question Petite's recovery in Game 3 has been the absolute turing point of the series. He was literally dead in the water that game, the Yanks seemed completely lost, and then he settled down.
That being said, the Phils DID get to him, on FULL REST, having never seen him before, but were unable to blow him out. Seeing him twice in 6 days howver is completely different. I don't think either pitcher will make it pass 5 innings. Should be fun.

No...he's not Josh Beckett or Curt Schilling...but he is HUGE in BIG Games. This is the biggest game you can have in a season. He came back because of this. He'll give it everything he possibly has because there is no tomorrow for him. |

Take out Werth and they only scored 2 runs against him. Basically all he has to do is pitch Werth differently and they didn't really "get to him". |

#17 Posted: 11/3/2009 5:37:44 PM I didn't hear too much talking from Phils fans after game 5 as you say.Rather after game 3 it was the Yank fans claiming it was already over.I think that your loyalty has affected your senses somewhat. |

#18 Posted: 11/3/2009 5:37:52 PM I really think this goes 7. Ryan Howard will decide this game. If he can get off the schnide and get a coupe af big hits, phils win imo. He is batting a buck 52 or some whacked out shit and baseball is a sport that I will use the word due. it is a game of averages and averages even out and this big bopper is going to average out. wasn't he the MVP last year? |

STFU already. Sox Spent money to win Championships and Took HGH and ROIDS to Win. SO F off with that shit. you look like such a loser.
Talk to a Minnesota fan or Kansas CIty fan. Damon, the WS kid, is from kansas and from the KC orginiazation. See, small teams actaully look for talent where botht eh red sox and yankees just pay for it. you know how I know this?
How many star Baseball players come from New York or Massachuesetes? I can't think of a ONE! |

#23 Posted: 11/3/2009 5:43:14 PM Petitte: I need an edge. I have to go to the mound feeling like I did in my 20's.
Yankee Trainer: Well we can do something about that.
Petitte: Oh yeah? Ok what do you say mac?
Yankee Trainer: "Vitamin B12 supplement" will boost your energy and recharge your pitching arm, all I have to do is take this needle and put it right in your shoulder.
Petitte: B12? Sounds good! As long as it is a "vitamin".

#24 Posted: 11/3/2009 5:45:20 PM hehe Honestly if I was Petitte and I knew I was on my final leg, Turning 40 I could end with another WS ring at the age of 40 an dget on living my life being with my family. I would take that shot in a heart beat or anything I had to do to ensure I could pitch the best game of my life. |
