#8 Posted: 11/2/2009 11:49:39 PM the key for the phils to win is to make sure their starter pitches a complete game. sweetjiminhy fucking jesus is thier bullpen terrible. i wouldnt have been shocked at all to see them blow a 3 run lead in the 9th tonight. in fact they sure as hell tried to. |

Pedro Punk Ass Martinez pitch a complete game? I don't think so. Pedro is a 7 inning pitcher, Might not even go 7

#11 Posted: 11/3/2009 12:11:08 AM yeah no shit captain obvious. i was just jokingly stating that for the phils to have a shot, they need to stay away from their bullpen. and fuck alll those preconceived notions about how much pedro can pitch. if he's dealing and is at or below 100 pitches after 7, i say let him try and finish it. or put in hamels after the 7th. ANYBODY but madson, park or lidge. man do those guys suck. |

#12 Posted: 11/3/2009 12:17:50 AM Yankees will work Pedro so bad he'll have 100+ pitches by the end of the 5th inning. Then it's decision time for Charlie.
I don't know who Pettitte should worry about more...Chase or Werth. |

#14 Posted: 11/3/2009 1:48:09 AM Burnett and Coke are also Utley's bitches apparently.
Oh yea...another key would be...have the lead after 7 inning for the Yankees. Then the Game is OVER. |

#15 Posted: 11/3/2009 9:29:35 AM If the Phils are going to win Game 6:
At the point in the game when Pedro hands the ball to the pen (likely 5th-7th inn), the Phils will need to have a multiple run lead in order to hold off the eventual Yankee rally. Maybe not as much as 6 like last night, but Pedro can't leave the game tied or behind.
Or
Pedro and Pettitte are both knocked out of the game early and it's a battle of the pens by the 3rd or 4th inning. Then anything can happen in what likely would be a slugfest. |

#16 Posted: 11/3/2009 9:50:30 AM The key to the game has shifted to the offense at least from a yankee perspective. They will have to score some runs which is quite possible against pedro and if it goes 7 (Happ or Hamels....).Andy has not pitched on 3 days rest in a while and I expect the phils to get a few off of him.I think this 3 day rest idea for the yankees has taken away their advantage with regards to starting pitching.
game 6 starters - even middle relief- even closer- edge Yankees Hitting- even

how about these numbers... pitchers on 3 days rest in post season history are 19-34. Then you add Petitte's age factor combined with 3 days rest and I'm seeing another Philly win in game 6!! |

#18 Posted: 11/3/2009 9:55:53 AM Keep in mind though that Pettitte's Post season history on 3 days rest is something like 3-1 and a 2.80 era. (Can't remember exactly, read it on the way to work).
Although anything is possible, if I'm the Phillies, it's a 7 inning game tomorrow. I imagine Mariano will pitch both the 8th and 9th if the Yankees are ahead. That's not the situation the Phillies want to find themselves in. |

but that was 3 years ago when Petitte was 34. Now, he's 37 and the body doesn't heal as fast as you get older. |

#20 Posted: 11/3/2009 12:25:30 PM I think Pedro is going to pitch well again. However, the Yankees i'm sure are going to do everything in their power to work his pitchcount up. Hes probably going to go 6 innings, and leave in either a tie or with a lead. Going to come down to the pen i think

#22 Posted: 11/3/2009 12:30:49 PM Just a little more minutiae for my fellow gamblers; Joe West is umpiring:
The LAST 5 games he's ump'd w/either Pettite or Martinez on the mound: Away team 5-0; Overs 5-0.
Imagine that. |
