Steinbrenner, 79, will be on hand at Yankee Stadium as the Yankees put their 40th American League pennant into their back pocket and continue the march for their long-elusive 27th World Series title.
In a statement released Monday, Steinbrenner said, "The Yankees' enormous will to win, tremendous professionalism and great team spirit, backed by the best, most vocal and supportive fans have propelled us into the World Series. We're looking forward to our 27th ring."
That will be a great site. |

#4 Posted: 10/26/2009 5:46:29 PM The Boss will ALWAYS be Mr. Steinbrenner. Untill Death. You have Mr. and then you have Hank and Hal. If you want to be technical...Hal is actually the "boss"...but in my mind...it will always be Mr. Steinbrenner. |

#19 Posted: 10/27/2009 1:22:50 AM every one knows the boss is Bruce Springsteen,
typical yankee fans thinking they have the moniker rights for every nickname.
there are 30 captains, yet they call Jeter "The captain",, lol we all know the true captain is Captain Morgan .

Well when the Yankees are at bat and you say "The Captain" is coming up. Who else would you think of?
When "The Boss" is mentioned in the form of anything baseball...your going to think of Bruce Springsteen? |

Who is the Mets' captain? Is it Wright? I never heard him get that name. Whose the Pirates; captain? Do they call that person the captain every time he goes to the plate? How about the Diamondbacks? Royals? Athletics? Nationals? Indians? Padres? Is there a player on those teams that all the fans refer to as the "Captain" more times then the person's actual name? What about the Jays? Rays? Orioles? Tigers? Cubs? Dodgers? Do any of these teams have a guy whose nickname is "Captain"? And I'm not telling you to mention the top players on those teams(Adrian, Greinke etc), I'm asking for you to tell me whose TV and radio announcers call the person "The Captain". |

You notice that I didn't mention the Red Sox right? I know Varitek has a C on his jersey. And what does "Hells Bells" have to do with this conversation. |
