#1 Posted: 10/9/2009 3:24:55 PM According to my local book Mr. Bo Dog. The game tonight between the halo's and sox is a toss up. Both are at -105 currently meaning it is a coin toss.
I find that line to be quite impossible as even in the unlikely case you have two completely equal teams the home field advantage has to be taken into thought.
So the books are saying the Redsox are a BETTER team then the Angels as the Angels need the home field advantage and the mental advantage of dominating game one for it to draw even.
F'n lame.
I'm waiting until just before game time to see if the line moves to more saner ground. That would be Sox +100 at the very least and Angels should be sitting at -125 IMO.
Can't pull the trigger on the Sox as there is no dog value. Don't want to pull the trigger on the Angels as I'm wondering why the Sox are given such confidence by the public and the book.
Ugh.

Stinky, I think that line assesemt in kind of stinky. I think its at pick 'em because they shaded to the Red Sox because the public is thinking...
1- The Sox still dominate the Angels in the Post season
2- Josh Beckett is dominant in the post season
3- The sox are down 1-0 and cant afford to go down 2-0 with Buckholtz going game 3
Ill be shocked if the public is not on the Sox tonight, but who knows, could be my assesment thats the stinky one

#6 Posted: 10/9/2009 3:46:20 PM Good points AC.
Sox were shut out yesterday though. I'm sure that woke a bunch of the GP up which helps explain half of them being on the Angels after losing their behind yesterday.
Interesting line anyway.

Everyone trashes Bodog but their lines are average and they get a B++ ranking which puts them at the top of the list for online bookies.
Are they the best? Maybe not but their website is professional and easy to use, their lines are usually decent and sometimes the best and they have given me a hundred bucks over the last two years in bonus money.
To each his own. I'm looking at other books but it seems hard as garbage to get your money into their account. It was hard enough with Bodog.

#12 Posted: 10/9/2009 4:04:19 PM I think it went dead even due to the majority of the public being on the Sox yesterday going off their past dominance. They got their feelings hurt and the shut out was insult to injury.
So now they are chasing and hopping on the Angels bandwagon thinking the Sox are done.
They might be right and I'm on the Angels RL tonight. I think the smart money is sticking with the Sox though which explains the line.

#13 Posted: 10/9/2009 4:06:44 PM I just checked several online ranking websites for books and bodog was number one on most and in the top five on all.
I think this is name brand hate where cappers think only squares go to bodog or some garbage.
They are a quality book and take care of their customers. I've had not one problem with them in any way.
To each his own though.

#14 Posted: 10/9/2009 4:20:09 PM Bodog is on a progressive betting scheme when it comes to dime lines ect.
-105 v -105
-150 v +130
-210 v +180
-300 v +250
Im not exactly sure what it is but I am almost positive this is how they do it, and i just dont want to check exactly what it is. It is EXTREMELY hard to profit this way. This is why people despise Bodog. They are exceptional marketers and draw tons of people onto their site and give them almost no chance of winning betting into that wood.
People just dont know that they are laying -300 when they could be laying -252 |

#15 Posted: 10/9/2009 4:27:15 PM Well I went from 5 units to 38 units using their horrible lines. lol.
If they were that bad I don't see me doing that.
Anyway, I'm looking at 5Dimes right now. I may cash out after this season and move the bankroll over there.
If any is left.

#16 Posted: 10/9/2009 4:36:09 PM Wow great job stinky, but do you get what I am saying? Juice is the most important thing. If you had been at 5 dimes you would be up 50. matchbook 55-60. If you have amost 8x your bankroll then you are doing a great job handicapping. But that tells me your money managment is proabaly a little risky.
My advice would be to keep doing what you are doing in regards to the teams you are betting but check out matchbook.com and read some money managment stuff. search username Vanzack. He has writeen some great stuff on juice and money managment. He puts in term everyone can understand...

Thanks for the tip. I don't know if I deserve congrats though. Yes I took 5 units and turned it into 38 units. Then multiple sports hit (NCAAF,NHL,MLS,NFL) to go with my MLB. I started betting them all and went from 38 units to THREE!! Since then I've calmed down and have went from 13 units to 9 where I sit right now.
It is only my second year betting though so I'm still in the learning process. Next year I'll go with fivedimes or matchbook.
P.S. You were right about my wreckless betting getting me the 38 units. I mainly won them on going huge on MMA underdogs (Rogers) and betting everything in my bankroll three Fedor fights.
