#1 Posted: 10/7/2009 1:14:59 PM I'm back. I want this thread to be about my picks & today games and not about where I've been since the last thread I made was bombarded with questions. I had a friend, who was overseas teaching English for a year, call me when he found out his mother was sick and he couldnt leave to see her unless he found a replacement. So I packed up and headed to the south pacific, taught English for 3 months and have been back for a little over a week now. If that's not good enough for you & you still feel the need to mock me or curse at me, take it somewhere else because I wont be bothered to reply.
Let's get to my picks.....
2:37pm: Philadelphia Phillies 1 (+104) for 4 units
Cliff Lee is one of the top five pitchers in the game today. The price of +104 on the RL is ridiculous. This is the defending World Champions. They're facing Ubaldo Jimenez. Ubaldo has seen the Phillies twice in his career going 0-1, 10 IP, 9 ER, 14 H, 5 BB. That's a 8.10 ERA, 1.90 WHIP & .326 Opposing Average. Werth & Ibanez have never seen him but the other 6 batters have gone 12 for 28 (.428) with 1 HR, 2 2B & 4 BB. This game has blowout written all over it.
6:07pm: Minnesota/New York OVER 9.5 (+100) for 2 units
I like CC Sabathia. But I don't like him when the calendar flips to October. Call it a hunch but I don't think Sabathia can pitch well in the cold. And guess what - it's gonna be cold tonight. I don't think he'll get torched but I like the Twins to pick up 4 or 5 runs off him. A career 2-3 in the postseason with a 7.92 ERA, 2.20 WHIP & .330 Opposing Average. With that big belly of his, you'd think he'd have enough insulation for cold winds. On the flip side is Brian Duensing. I almost risked it & bet on him but when I saw that in his last 11.1 innings, he's allowed 9 runs on 16 hits, I backed off. A rookie, at Yankee Stadium, in Game 1 of the playoffs. This should be over by the time the bullpens come in.
No play on the late game at this moment but that could change. I'd like to see the lineups first. |
