This is the only series bet I'm making in the 1st round. As of today I have 25 units on LAA at +111.
I've watched the Red Sox all year and its painful to watch them on the road (except if you have money on the home team). Here's what I see....lots of injured or semi injured players, a woeful road team, just a flat out horrible bullpen (except Papelbon), catchers who can't throw anyone out at second, Jason Bay was awesome, with a capital awesome, at the beginning of the season but an average player at the middle to end of the season, BIG papi is a non threat, starting pitching lets up the looong ball, and the weather will be in the mid to upper 60's. The Red Sox won their 2004 World Series on a Dave Roberts stolen base and I feel this year the same strategy will hurt them. For LA a single or walk becomes a double or triple, in baseball terms its called a manufactured run. LAA in 4.

Like the play and think the Angels get over the big ass bump that has been in the road for the last several years. I will be at all three Angel home games if it goes that far.
Good luck Chilito

With you on LAA series bet. I think Angels getting that monkey off their shoulders this year after those painful postseason memory vs Red Sox since 1986.

Jon Lester wins game 1, the Angles begin to panic, and the rest is history...
This series will show just how important Justin Masterson was to this team. He was their go to guy/first one out of the pen and now he will be replaced by Manny Delcarmen. We will have lots of Manny haters on this board after round 1.

.
If Delcarmen comes in then the game will probably already be over.......If Lester and Beckett comes out early then the Red Sox are done anyway.......
I think this series could go either way......I cant believe that Lackey is a dog at home game 1.

Not to mention the fact that after depositing Justin Masterson in Cleveland, the Sox picked up Victor Martinez who will actually throw out the base runners that Tek could never do....Sox bullpen is far superior to the Angels. Chilito, who are you trying to kid. Just admit it the fact that you are a Yankee fan, (that's OK), by your obvious reference to 2004. But don't try and throw around misinformation.
You clearly weren't watching any Red Sox games. You forgot to get the digital converter for your '72 Sylvania black&white......

Sox take it in four games. Sox have a better lineup better starting pitching and a better bullpen anyone who says they have a horrible bullpen doesn't know baseball they had the second best bullpen era in the AL. They have more powerarms then anyone in the playoffs in the back end off there bullpen (bard, wagner, papelbon) Francona has a tremendous amount of options if you factor in guys like okajima and saito (delcarmen does suck and won't be called on to pitch any important innings). As for Masterson he was a descent pitcher but not the first one out of the bullpen as a bridge guy he was the first one out as a long relief or mop up guy( so delcarmen will be taking his spot), who woud you rather have a mop up guy a position that can be filled by any of your left over starters or Victor Martinez in the middle of you lineup?

ChilitoKid is absolutely NO fan of Yankees, he is a royal fan of his own $. This isn't a fan appreciation thread, this is a wagering topic thread, rather.

He has 28 homers and 98 RBIs and he did NOTHING the first 2 months of the season...
guess AROD is a non-factor too for the Yanks....
I don't really rely on many stats when I bet games but I do put some emphasis on them, a very small amount.
In Ortiz case I looked at the last month of the season and his performance in the playoffs last year. In his last 29 games Ortiz has 21 rbi's, 6 hr's ,and 28 hits nothing spectacular. Vs LAA in the middle of Sept he had 11 AB's, 3 hits, 3 runs, 1 HR, and 2 rbi's. Again nothing impressive.
Last years playoffs vs LAA he had 17 AB's, 1 run, 4 hits, 1 rbi, 3 BB's, and 4 k's in 4 games Last years playoffs vs TB he had 26 AB's, 3 runs, 4 hits, 4 rbi's, 6 BB's, and 9 K's in 7 games. During this series he had a very good Game 5 in which he had 3 rbi's.
In essence he had one good game in 11 during last season's playoffs. David Ortiz w/o Manny Ramirez is a non factor.

What can I say to this? I'm a Yankees fan and I'm trying to throw around misinformation? The people who read my post know this isn't true at all. And yes I watched EVERY Red Sox game this season. Lastly, you insult me . What can I say to your tv remark. Next time you're in Moultonborough, NH drive around the Kona area, off of Moultonborough neck. Let me know how much my waterfront house is worth? And fyi, I have 7 Panasonic plasma's ranging from 42-50 inches. If you want I'll give you the model #'s.
Here's a stat for you, actually 2 stats: Papelbon has a .000 era and is unscored upon in the playoffs Dice K has been in 23 or 24 bases loaded situations but has not let up a single run. IMO those stats end these playoffs.

Masterson was the first pitcher Francona went to in last year's playoffs and he pitched in all 4 playoff games vs LAA.
In the TB series Masterson pitched in Games 1,2,4,5, and 6. Heck of a lot of games for a mop up pitcher!

There is a reason that Lackey is a home dog in game 1, he was 0-3 and close to ERA of 4 vs Red Sox in postseason. But i will take LAA +105 though.
I still figured that Lackey would be a slight favorite......This should be a very good game......Lester should be able to slow down the running game also.
I cant see putting 25 Units on either side of this series
And I disagree with a lot of what Chilito Kid says up top.....The Boston BP is not terrible....Wagner, Okajima, and Papelbon are good and will come up clutch in the post-season. Bard, Ramirez, and Delcarmen have been worse lately and then whatever you want to say about Saito. I dont think you will see any of Saito this post-season, or I hope not.
Yes Papi is not his old self and will be a non-factor compared to the hitter he has been in the past.....If Boston can steal game 1 in Anaheim I like their chances in the series.....They are just a different team at home....Lester needs to have a big game and keep the runners off the basepaths.
