Alright - I play at TheGreek. So far so good, until this confusion today:
My original email:
"Hello.. a wager I placed earlier today was just graded
incorrectly. My pin # is ******.
1. Baseball
Propositions - Baseball Props June 27, 2009
San Diego Padres vs
Texas Rangers Total
runs scored in the first 4½ innings of game
Under 5½ runs
(-150) [loss]
There were only 5 runs after 4.5 innings, making
that a winning wager. Please credit my account!"
To which they responded:
"We have reviewed your wager and it was graded correctly.
You had taken the innings to go under 5 1/2 and by the counts the innings went
over. Therefore your wager would be a loss. You may view the results at MLB.com for further
information."
My response:
"Okay, there is some confusion on your end. I didn't "take
the innings to go under 5 1/2."
I wagered that there would be less
than 5.5 runs, in the first 4.5 innings. As stated here in
the wager:
Total runs
scored in the first 4½ innings of game
Under 5½ runs
(-150)
The box score at MLB.com, and every other sports
reporting website, has the following:
3 runs scored in inning 2. 1
run scored in inning 3. 1 run scored in inning 4.
For a total of 5
runs, in the first 4.5 innings. Less than 5.5 runs.
It's a
winning bet, please grade it correctly."
And finally, I just got:
"I am sorry to say but you do not understand what the
proposition is stating. You had taken the wager under 5 1/2 which means that in
order for you to be a winner after the score of the last inning at top of the
5th inning determines the result."
...WHAT IS THAT?! Am I just missing something? It's clear as day, I don't understand how it's a loss. Anybody have experience with props at TheGreek? Any insight?

You might be confused, after 4 there were 5 runs scored, get it, then in the top 5th which would be 4.5 innings another 2 scored making your wager a loser.

I can understand this I guess. The wager should be much more clear. 4.5 to me means in between top and bottom of inning. Very confusing.

look at the box score, after 4 innings of baseball there was 5 runs scored, add another .5 of an inning( that would be top 5th) where 2 runs were scored and total # of runs after 4.5 innings=7which is a loss , stop thinking 4.5 innings is bottom 4th...

Just so you know, it is confusing. Like when I look at a pitchers stats and he goes 6.1 innings, I'm always trying to figure out how you get in a tenth of an inning. This new math is goofy
